hello.

love psytrance but doing everything through software. soon i'll have some budget available to buy a hardware synth and I'd like to ask for some opinions.
first of all i use Ableton.

second, i can choose between:

1. Nordlead 2x + Moog Delay + Moog Phaser ( or any combination of 2 moog pedals )

2. Virus TI Polar

3. Yamaha Motif XS

now, what do you people advice me ?

Some say analog rullz ( clavia ).
Some say that Yamaha motif sucks because sound programming is not good and that's loaded with sounds that are more likely good for other types of music.
Some say the Virus TI is the best.

I used for a few days a nordlead 2x, but it was long time ago and i liked it. With the other two i have no experience.

So, what do you think its good for psy between these 3 ?

thx

Clavia hasn´t done one analog synth,

And if i were you id go for the TI if i were you mostly because of the sounds and for the "total integration" feature           Demand recognition for the Armenian genocide 1915

I don't have the Yamaha or a NL 2, but my two outboards are a Virus TI and a Nord Lead 3 so I'll weigh in on those.

_Virus TI_
Advantages: Tons of sounds possible, lots of onboard effects, Total Integration makes programming a deep and capable synthesizer much faster than if you had to do it all on the outboard synth. Powerful, dark sound to it. 16 channels is like having 16 Viruses, er, Virii.
Disadvantages: Takes longer to program simple noises. Submenus are a pain to navigate (even w/VST). Tends to always sound 'like a virus'. Recording from a VST means recording automation on knobs, soloing the track, bouncing, and importing (unless you run it without the VST but then you lose the cool VST interface) - although now that I think about it, you may be able to get around this by running the outputs of the Virus in to your soundcard rather than using the VST outputs.

_Nord Lead 3_
Advantages: 99% of your knobs are right in front of you - ITS FAST TO MAKE SOUNDS. Very clean, crisp sounds (especially on lower octave saw osc, really gnarly). Recording from hardware means you can keep the song playing and record while you do your knob tweaks - again, fast.
Disadvantages: Far less routing capabilities than the virus. Only 2 oscillators. Limited filter configurations. No onboard FX.

The Nord was one of my first outboard synths and I loved it. Then I bought the TI and I loved it. These days though I use the Nord more than the Virus. My tracks come out something like 75% Nord, 25% Virus - they just don't NEED that much Virus.

Of course how you program a Virus will affect how it sounds. The Virus is a very capable synth and I am certain many people can keep it from sounding 'like a virus'. But in my experience and style of programming it does tend to produce similar sounds. I guess I'll have to have a phase of trying to avoid 'the virus sound'. Actually that should be a good challenge.

Don't use the Virus TI as your soundcard.

thanks.
i'm considering virus ti polar.

fuzzikitten, i see what you mean. the virus has the advantage that it also has onboard effects.

what do you people think about the prophet 08 ?
i'm not trying to put a lot of questions, i just want to be sure that i'll make a good choice.

thanks.
