What do you mean? What's the difference between a saw tooth and a saw wave?

i thought there was a difference saw wave was more soft version of a sawtooth ... maybe i'm wrong... but now i can't find anywhere on the web but i'm quite sure i read it somewhere....oh well

saw has less harmonics and sawtooth has more harmonics and is brighter. compare the sawtooth of vanguard and saw of fm8 and this is the difference i'm talking about... feel kind of wierd cause i have nothing to back me up on this           http://soundcloud.com/magimix-1/chilling-forest-whispers

Saw is the abbreviation of Sawtooth. They're the same thing.

yes but there is a difference and i coin now a new term saw and blunt saw. blunt saw has less harmonics, i mean there is no high harmonics in the wave form. what creates a softer saw.

let's concentrate on the meaning and not on the terminalogy please . if you know the right name please correct me           http://soundcloud.com/magimix-1/chilling-forest-whispers

like the supersaw was really needed in analog realm but now in digital it is quite easy to get that.

In Ableton's Operator you can choose how many harmonics your saw is going to have (all the way to 64).
