Speakers: Tannoy MX3 speakers, powered by a Yamaha RX496 receiver.
Headphones: Sennheiser HD500 - same amp.
My mixes sound quite good, if you've heard them. But that's only because I got to know my speakers quite well. I want monitors - I'll listen to the sound as it is and not have to think on how it will sound.. Not buying yet because going to army soon - will need to see if I'll have time to make music

superglue - agree with all your words.
Guys just remember that the Yamaha ns10 is a regular speaker - it was not designed to be a monitor or something like this.
It is just a fucking speaker.it was designed to listen music -not to create.so....... just think about it.

it is not superglue.
and even if it is yes - it hasnt been the idea.
because of a couple smart and experienced guys that said this speaker is good for what is it - then it designed for creation.
read some history - but anyway - who gives a f
tell you the truth - I dont know if now i need them.
I only use them to check my mix - that's all.

The problem with speakers that are not monitors is that sometimes it's just impossible to differentiate certain frequencies. On my system at home, you 'feel' the same bass from a tone at 40hz and at 140hz, so a bassline could be sitting at 140hz and sound perfect on my system, even a little better than it was sitting in the sub - but basically the same. Of course, the moment you listen to it on another system it sounds shit.
The more the system works on loudness and hi-fi sound, the harder it is to get a good mix, and on the really cheap ones it is nearly impossible.

i didnt understood ur question limbic - if understood - nothing to say each monitor speaker has own frequency range so.... hell knows???
the best is to gain experience from both i mean from speakers, monitors, headphones - listening music playing around see what the differences and so on....
