I have a problem with my analysers...

My cubase master out says that on the whole my song never goes beyond -0.6dB.

The frequency/stereo analyser i inserted in the master out says that on the whole my song clips up to 2,1dB, and the left and right channel clip at 3,2dB and 3,6dB respectively...

Ofcourse, i don't hear clipping, but i know from experience that it is very well possible that when i render the whole thing that it will clip indeed (and at that point ofcourse you can hear it, why you can't hear it while still in cubase has always been a mystery to me, i guess it's prolly because yer still in the 32-bit environment or something like that), i didn't check that out yet though...

But which of the two should i trust? cubase itself or the analyser?

tnx

Record the mix from your master out (in 32-bit float format), then get some statistics on it, either from SX itself or eg. from Sound Forge... the stats will tell you what was actually recorded, and will give you the information you need to decided which to trust.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
