I find it kind of odd that a topic about psychedelics has been locked.

Psychedelics are a part of this culture, yet it is seen by many on this forum as a past time for mindless teens.

Seems hypcocritical for the one's who use to use and experiment with psychedelics and now just don't have the urge to do so anymore or pretty prompous of the one's who believe they are above it.

It is not about being above it or don't have the urge to use it. Use the search and you'll find many topics about it.

The problem is to talk about drugs, which is not allowed here. This forum is about music and the psytrance related culture. Of course, for some there's a connection between drugs and the music, and also between the psy culture and drugs.

Discussion focused on drugs are not allowed, for many reasons, including legal reasons and the fact that I don't want to be PMed by some guy asking me where to buy LSD (PMs about where to find the lastest killargh unreleased are already bad enough).

If you really feel like you must talk about it, I recommend the psynews forum ( http://www.psynews.org ), I'm a member there. There are many other places where this can be done.

Or you may focus your discussion on other non-drug related aspects of the psychedelic world, even if drugs are a small part of it.

Full on, you say that for "some" there is a connection between psy culture and drugs but you and me and everyone knows that it is actually the other way around: Only for "some" there ISN'T a connection between drugs and psy culture, because for MOST there IS. Now whether you guys want to admit to this is another matter.

Let's be real here, it is called Psychedelic Trance, which i would have to say is influenced by psychedelics.

Yet we can't have a discussion about psychedelics?

It still doesn't make sense to me...

yup , i fail to understand too , could it be that the adminis might possibly get in trouble with the law or something ? why such a grey area this ? .. they always lock topics and without good reason .. i know rules iz rules but i wish someone from the isra crew would be more forthcoming and explain to us exactly why we can not discuss psychedelics on a psychedelic music forum .. from wikipedia:

The word psychedelic is an English term coined from the Greek words for "soul," øõ÷Þ (psyche), and "manifest," äÞëïò (delos). A psychedelic experience is characterized by the perception of aspects of one's mind previously unknown, or by the creative exuberance of the mind liberated from its ostensibly ordinary fetters.

Which doesn't mean you forcely need to use substance to have an alterate state...

actually there are better ways to experiment those state, substance can be a way to experiment and have an exemple of those states, but is a shame today most people use them to party not to explore....

The only reason i can make out of these locked topics is : "The Law"... bound by them? Is it? Why can't there be discussions on psychedelics in a psytrance forum? There would be hardly anyone on this forum, who hasn't used psychoactives at least once...

Can anyone from the Isra team provide a better explaination? Pardon, if I said something I shouldn't have! Psychoactives were never a small part of this genre of music as far as I know...

Peace and Light.

I totally agree with Stregone.
And I totally agree with the approach that psychedelic substances are not a "must" to enjoy and understand this scene.
A step back on this matter on Isratrance Forum can only give more depht and importance to other subjects of the scene, which can only be good.

psy·che·del·ic /ˌsaɪkɪˈdɛlɪk/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[sahy-ki-del-ik] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective 1. of or noting a mental state characterized by a profound sense of intensified sensory perception, sometimes accompanied by severe perceptual distortion and hallucinations and by extreme feelings of either euphoria or despair.
2. of, pertaining to, or noting any of various drugs producing this state, as LSD, mescaline, or psilocybin.
3. resembling, characteristic of, or reproducing images, sounds, or the like, experienced while in such a state: psychedelic painting.
–noun 4. a psychedelic drug.
5. a person who uses such a substance

no one said that you HAVE to use psychedelics to enjoy your experience or go to a "higher" level of conscience. What I am saying is that too many people in my view in this forum have now turned to the the other extreme. If we are having a civil conversation regarding psychedelics, which obviously can and many times does include hallucinogens, why are many of you turning the other cheek on them?

As far as many people pming you fullon regarding lsd purchases, those are isolated cases, the topic that was locked was not going overboard in any shape or form in my view.

When people learn what psychedelic drugs are and how and when to use them then maybe we can all talk about it freely on a forum. At the moment such discussions are bad both for this forum and the scene which scene by the way although it obviously started many years ago by people who where experimenting with such drugs at that time unfortunately lately its getting destroyed on every aspect by people who overuse these substances.

Until then lets all focus on the music aspect of the psy trance culture.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

Change the name of the genre? Why call it psychedelic trance? I rarely do psychoactives... still whenever i talk about this genre of music to my friends... the first question they ask me is : Do you do drugs? There's no way to stop the one's who overdo things... let them die...!

Peace and Love!

I have a better idea, you focus on what you would like to, and others can focus on what they would like to.

And to think that people misuse psychedelics more today then before seems naive to me. Are you really serious? People are people, you have responable and irresponable users, and that has always been the case, now and before. The only difference between now and then is just window covering. What has changed is fashion, the way we talk and some other external things. Inside, we're basically the same.

I don't see a problem with talking about psychedelics in a mature manner. It's not like it is unrelated to Psytrance. The music is what it is about, but to ignore the "psychedelic" in trance seems silly.
