great link tsabi it really proves a point... - the new kick is just blunt and well... does absolutely do nothing but make the track boring altho theres a good lead - but then again there are many other examples of how some kicks do sound better and i for one cant stand some the horrible kicks that sometimes ruined a great track with the goa sound... you just have to choose your tracks carefully |

I must say I'm not too fond of the standard fullon kick either.
As I also have problems with clubby sounding Progressive kicks.

I also dont like that high pitched kicks. But they are much more simply to achieve than the warm nice phat oldskool ones. Its not a problem to pitch a sine a few times in wavelab for instance or in bazzism but Id like to have that old one in my experiments, but I didnt succeed till now with a warm round balanced kick like in the old good days songs.Tbh I also miss that times where the bassline was not that much needed like a punch in ya face but more like a mysterious subtile follower.Today all are trying to become mike tysons ko punch. Its funny and you can get adrenalin from this ,but its not satisfying me compared to the old mysteries.Well I like the new ones also, but I miss the old ones. Its a pity they are dying out hehe |

I like all music raw sounding. It is supposed to be organic and tribal sounding. Love the typical goa kicks and 909's. If I wanted over produced perfectionist crapola I'd listen to pop music.

It is sad what has happened to Dino Psaras. How he went from Tortured Brain to Tainted Love is beyond my understanding.

I'm sure most will not agree with me, but I think the standard Goatrance kick is just ugly.
I just can't get over it, and it was initially the reason why I never listened to Goatrance before, because I couldn't stand the high pitched 909 kick.
Oonk oonk 0oonk!
It seems as if no one really cared that much.
A kick is a kick, right?
There are even loads of tracks where there's hardly any low frequencies in the kicks.
Of course if we listen to some older tracks, we think of the good old day, with that 'charming' 909 kick.
But stil....

honestly, i fully understand what you mean. but the kickdrums in many production of today sound even worse to me. back in the days, it somehow was fittin more.
