Stephen King's It did its job well back when it was still fresh. I've always preferred the books, however, like The Shining, during the read of which I had to put the book on the bedside table and light up several times. Good stuff, indeed.
I wouldn't say it's the scariest piece I've seen but probably one of the most disturbing ones, and that'd be the French production Martyrs by Pascal Laugier.

Movie: The shining...
But if someone makes a very good adpatation of 1984 for the big screen (like Darren Aronofsky), it could be one of the scariest movies ever.

I have watched varoius types of movies.I am thrilled to watch action movie.Though I do not like to watch horor movie but unfortunately I watched all the movies of saw series.From my experience,watching of movie ,saw is the best scary movie in my life!!! |

The Ring, The Japanese movie, the Hollywood remake is also very scary but does not come close to the Japanese one.
It was so scary that I woke up drenched in sweat, dreaming about it at night, after watching. Hell I get goosebumps just thinking about it now.
