Now that you said about your punk band I remembered that the first song I made, I made it with my piano I had at home. I was 13 and I was sniffing glue and it was like I was hearing a woman singing it. And then when I got home I played it in the piano. I still remember how to play it I think. When I get my computer I will play with steingberg the grand in cubase and export it so that you can hear it!. It sounds like it is the unreleased 2nd part of the Amazing Grace (Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, etc.), that noone else knows except from me.

God... the first attempt I made to make music was soooooooo bad... I remember trying to play it out at a party we threw near where I lived and the levels were so far off... Nobody could hear any of it... it was the worst ever. I think deleted the files for that the day I got back from throwing that party... I should've saved it to continually reference how bad it was...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

What a beutifull subject!!!

I made my first track back in 1991 when i started making music. I used at the time, the good old Atari STFM, a Korg O1 and a Yamaha RY30 drum machine. The title of the track was "Sound's like a melody". It was so simple and repetitive, with an arrangement to laugh, but at the same time so pure. And it revealed my musical inner-self which is 100% melodic.

I still have the diskette from atari but i don't have an atari. Anyway this topic reminded me that i must find one and Cubase 3.1 for it, and ressurect 100 plus tracks from my first years into music making.

Aha! You made me go and listen to my very first attempts at making music. What a laugh!

My very first attempt was made with one single Rebirth and is called "Rise and Shine" and dates from Novembre 1998 . The next attempt was made with Buzztracker and was called "Melotronic Melanonia" and dates from January 1999. (After that came Pulsic Funkus, Elve Soup and all sorts of other things .

If you have a place where we can upload, everyone can have a laugh at these.

Oh man... this brings back memories.

In '02 I got my hands on Reason and, after playing around with the program for a bit, wrote this first 'song'. I didn't have a keyboard, didn't know much about rhythm, and wondered why the 'delay' unit didn't actually delay the signal but made it echo...

I only wish I could say I was on drugs, but alas, my sober mind is to blame.

Consider yourselves warned.

Hehe...the first tracks I made were on a tracker program for the Comodore Amiga...called Octalizer...(+/- 1989 )
Not much of a track though...I couldn't (or didn't know how) save my songs..so I had 2 do everything in 1 day, and put it to tape after...after that came Pro-Tracker, were I could sample stuff in 8-bit...wicked for that time, for me atleast...
The really first track I made on that for a radio program...
It contained samples from House/Acid records I had(and still have)...
I sampled the bassline of Joey Beltrams-Energy Flash & on top I put weird samples and bits & pieces from speech from that radioshow...it had 2 be funny...
I didn't get any airplay, but it was fun 2 do...

Years later I discovered cubase & bought my first synth (Korg Prophecy), and since then i'm hooked ;} ...

My previous HD died and I lost 2 years of music worth. I got it over it pretty quick though when Reason came out and I instantly blew away my old songs in sound quality. My first song was a psy number using Rebirth. All about the Acid I do wish I had it though!

I wish i had my first track

I think it was in 99, it was done in acid, kick base snare and hi hats sampled from rebirth and because i only knew samples at the time there where no synths, hehehe all the sounds where made from my voice and twisted in soundforge hehehe

I still remember the melodies it would be an time travel experience to listen to it! but its gone...

HMmmm... My first track was written on Scream Tracker in 1994... It was awaful and I also lost most of my tracks because of a disk crash but I still have some of the oldies....
What's funny is that in that time I wrote this super crappy track and I was thinking it was the best track i've ever heard...
First timer high I guess

my first tune is 15 minutes of full boredom. i used a boring presetkick with a high resonating tone to it (i found it rocks), a boring presetbass and some killah hihats as special fx. its for sure the most minimal and boring techno tune since Reinhard Voigt - Tod eines Hippiemädchens. i thought it was a real bomb that time tho...
