I'm looking for the best and useful software (live, reason, cubase, flstudio, orion, sonar, protools...) to make psytrance nowadays. Please help me!

It's all personal preference. Get a demo of each of those and try them out for yourself.

I use Ableton and it's probably the easiest program to get started on (with the exception of FL Studio).           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

I would recommend reading the "Mother of" threads first, youll be suprised how much useful information they contain.

And it realy doesnt matter what typ of DAW you are using, i mean the platform is just there to help you organize everything. Its you who decide what type of music you want to to, not the software.

I think the best software for making psytrance is the software that the best psytrance artist uses!           http://soundcloud.com/aedem

@medea:

but if you're using the same sequencer as the best psy artist, you also have to buy the same hardware synths and outboard equipment for that extra analog touch!

i used ableton for a long time but after i started to work togehter with a friend in nuendo i switch over.. ableton rocks and it haves some very usefull options but the sound is not so good as in sequencers like; nuendo, logic & cubase!!
but get the demoes and try all of them out and pick the one that suits u best
but its not the software that makes the music its the man and mind behind the software!!

imho, the sound quality of sequencer's output is the last think to think about, even better not to waste your brain on thinking about it at all =)

actually, the only thing that bothers me in my sequencer(FL STUDIO)is sound, other than that its just super comfortable.
i just wait for image-line to improve fruity's sound engine and then it would be a monster!

Hi!!!

I would like to thank you all for the replies in this topic! =)

I'm trying to find an "all in one" software, where I could sequence midi, record and edit audio, and use in live performances.

When I'm recording Pop and Rock music I often use ProTools or Cubase, but in Eletronic music I like the Ableton Live.
I've already used FLStudio and Reason before, I love them, but there's somethings I can't do with'em.

So, today I vote for Live (although I don't like the audio editing so much as I like the ProTools editing, mainly in vocal parts)
What do you think?

See U!!!

I started with FL, switched to Reason, switched to Acid, switched to Cubase, switched back to Acid, started using Live, started using Logic, decided I preferred Live.

Hope that helps.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

I started with Fruity and got stuck there for years and never really got a "psy sound" but, back then i didnt know a shit about production and wanted the sequencer to solve all my problems... I know very talented artists that use FL Studio and i believe is a nice piece of software but i don't get comfortable with the loop workflow it has, patterns and playlist dont work that well for me, nowadays i preffer Cubase's continous timeline or Ableton Live's different views, just find that my creativity flow better out of the fruit.

To create psy trance is a very interesting thing because no sequencer/synth/sample cd will ever give you the whole "psy"sound or the mental, technical and musical skills to create trance and twist it in psychedelic ways to amaze yourself and a particular audience.

Take any sequencer you can put your hands on and begin learning about all its features and more important, learn about psytrance, how it is, how it is created and then you'll see any tool can do the job and it is just a mater of trying and finding the right one for you.

As far as "all in one" goes, I say Logic 8 beats the rest, hands down.
Great sequencer, very good audio editing, fantastic midi implementation and the best sounding, native, plug ins.

Peace out.
