I could never wrap my mind around FL. having to set up a pattern per track and switching between tracks to select patterns. Thats counterintuitive from my point of view. |

I have been using these programs during the last seven years: reason, cubase, ableton live and now fl studio as my main DAW, which im getting more and more comfortable with. It really is a nice prog when you first get to know it. A lot of possibilities hidden in there Actually i only use fl now ofcourse with some vst's. |

I use a shareware program called jeskola buzz that's very, very easy to use, but doesn't quite give you a very professional/clean sound. Any advice?

Fruity Loops has often ben underrated by many artists. It allows for a very easy workflow and has plenty of interesting possibilities to tweak sound. Especially the new FL 7 is a pretty nice toy to create all kinds of tunes. I recommend that and Pro Tools for mastering. Pro Tools is industry standart as far as audio mastering is concerned and it has a very good workflow once you know the shortcuts. The other more professional alternative to Fruity is Logic. Huge possibilities, costs quite a lot of money and a lot to learn before you know more than half of the possibilities. Soundquality wise I would rate all of them pretty much the same... after all it is all digital sound...

I like Reason.
Easy to work with and it goes fast to get your ideas to sound.
I think we all can agree that there is no ultimate software. it depends on who is behind the buttons.
