... at about 97 after "LSD" did hit the charts, but that attempt was a failure, much because they did put out CD´s that was really bad and they didn´t understand the culture and only thought it was some easy buck.

So now would be a good time to try again, now that putting out a bad CD doesn't matter. If it's pop with big names it'll do fine. And culture? Is there culture at a Skazi concert?

I really think that they could do it now(much because now they will do the home work first, learning by last time that it not going to work if they only do it in a easy buck way)
Also think that the bad releases now are not as bad as the one they put out then, it´s more that they are boring.
But there is a lot of releases so it would be pretty simple to get good stuff.
And the diversity is also greater.
Like Dark, that attract a lot of new people that is totally different from the old psy peoples.
Then we have a lot of artist that getting more commercialized and that is something that did not go well 10 years ago(then nobody wanted to be a sell out).
And then we have full on and especially some Progressive that would work very well in night clubs giving electro house some competition( and progressive is a lot more fun to dance to than House)
But i think they will let the real psy alone(and the psy community)( and I am very thankful for that), much because it is a more underground movement and want to be that way also.

I for one would welcome the more commercialized part to enter the nightclub scene even more.
And as they don´t have anything to do on a real psy party, why not let that part take over the night clubs sceene.
If myself going to a nightclub I rather hear cheesy full on and housy(house) Progresiv than the music that they play right now.(would love that music if played at nightclub, but only there)
And when going to a psy party or festival I don+t like to hear this cheesy music (it´s make me puke), Want to hear real trippy psychedelic, some Stompy psy or some nice(especially the more Goa oriented) Progresiv.

I'm still under a non-disclosure and non-compete contract that I signed so I can't get too specific with the names of some of the companies I worked with and had contracts to promote.

But the plan we were shown was to market the "hippie" and "psychedelic" lifestyle to a young and "hip" audience and to market the psytrance sounds to a broader audience that listens to more commercial trance and techno.

Some of the people with Sony and the related record labels have noticed the growing festival crowds and especially the growth of the dark psy scene.

I actually can say I am guilty of being one of the ones that discussed it with some very high profile music reps, not even thinking that they were actually serious about trying to commercially market the whole psychedelic experience and lifestyle.

That was last year in the middle of 2007, so I don't know how much they have actually followed through on it, but a close friend tells me that they are trying to start up some festivals and promote some clubs and other areas of the scene.

I know for a fact that they are trying to get involved with the Japanese scene a lot more because they have noticed how big the parties are getting and how many of them are now going on.

Same thing with Europe and other places. They have noticed how many psy parties and events are going on Germany and Israel and many other places that had no scene or a small one just a few years ago.

They are more focused on the progressive and full on sounds because they are more commercial sounding and easier to cross over, but there was a huge interest in promoting some of the dark psy to the goth and industrial and metal crowds.

Infected Mushroom played here at a mass marketed Camel promotion party. That shit is hitting too close to home.

Before I really got into Psy I used to DJ at a goth club, mainly playing EBM/Aggrotech stuff. There was never a good reaction when I slipped in a Paranoize or Baphomet Engine track.

I think Psytrance is really too fast (even at 148) and literally too psychedelic to appeal to goth/rivethead culture.

but seriously. would be hilarious if sony wants to get in on this... last i heard the major labels cant even sell pop anymore...
its all about the online mp3 shops, itunes, blah blah ...
can you imagine blotter with sony logo on it?
just kidding.
seriously i dont think it will make any difference...
but i must wonder- all sell outs aside, if this becomes mainstream, will they make earnest attempts to explain psychedelic drug use and mayan calendar stuff to the noobs?
hilarious...
i bet its just more club stuff with a trance beat only...

if infected mushroom playing at a camel sponsored party is hitting too close to home you should check where you put your house, i mean you might have put it in the middle of the main highway...

i thought pepsi sponsored them already... oh wait thats skazi sorry

yeah well anyway its time to slow the beat down and get back to the human body, the trance rhythms, and the flow...

Just to remind you ...
sony offered the first water-proof-walkman back in the eighties.

Anyway, I'm not in salary with sony.
if sony sponsored the technical equipment in a party
I would have accepted it, rather than blotters of 'xy-beer' at the flyer and elsewhere.
It's more familiar. I'm a music freak. sony sells music.. they made millions doing that... i don't... i don't care about... in the end music makes the sense.
I can't count the amount of liters of alcohol which was sold at parties( only inside this scene ), and no one is talking about that background-sponsoring in using this kind of mind-poison.

keep it psychedelic
