Just browse through Trilogy or Trillian presets until you hear what you like. I use them almost everytime for slow tunes, often even without processing (just a bit of EQ)           http://soundcloud.com/aedem

+1 for trillogy and trillion, with proper eq, the bass becomes so warm and nice.

some basses i very like

they sound quite similar maybe because of mastering(they were on the same comp),
do you think are triangle waves?

I start with a sine and if it needs filler, I blend a little triangle (or switch out the sine for a triangle). I then try to blend a square or a saw depending on whether it sounds better with an odd or even harmonic series. Sometimes both but, I will pan the square to one side and the saw to another to widen things a bit(also mod FX's verb dly ect, leaving the sub range untouched by spiting freq. bands into groups) sometimes not . It helps using a analyzer for this step, if your still getting the hang of it. It also allows you to see how much of the spectrum your bass is filling. A thick warm bass contains those wired yet subtle harmonics that take forever to get right lol. Give it plenty of time till you love what you have created. I have to invert phase sometimes on a patch or two to get things to line up so they don't sound rubbish and retain fullness. Get the spectrum even throughout the duration of the patch. The next step is amplitude and tonality shaping with eq's and dynamics processing ect... Then mix to your liking. Filter slope at each stage effects everything! Choose wisely

This makes me happy! lol

I have gained a lot of experience analyzing everything I can get my hands on that I like. . This can help you if you choose a wide variety of musical styles so that you can get to know each of them and begin a en devour into learning, that would take a lot of time with other methods. Always think of creating a full spectrum that is balanced and IME that will help you with your bass sounds, for whatever genre of tunes you are attempting...

Ehy Sinfreq, i tried your method, but not panned the different waves
it comes pretty close

now i got a timber that doesn't make me killa the pc,
and one more problem ahah

the energy

having such a deep-sub-chest pumping-bass at slow bpm requires heaps of energy in the low zone

i guess i have to compress in some manner that zone to gain rms and not ending up in the reds all the way.
tried some multibands on it, but it fucking distorts even at lower thresold and ratio
