What psypeople make in their lives

I'm writing this post in a moment in my life when I feel very confused about what the future is bringing me. So I began wondering what the other people in this scene are up to. I am studying economy but unfortunately I think it's really boring and, for me, in many ways unnecerssary information. Am I the only one here who's studying something that's directly related to capitalism? A big core of this culture's belief is that the materialism is "empty" and really gives us nothing but some kind of artifical happiness of short duration. And my values in life are more and more anti-materialistic. Bah, now I've gone off topic.

What i really wanted to know is what you other psypeople are up to in your lives. What are you studying or working with?

This will be interesting to hear since I've got this preconceived belief that many psypeople are more into subjects that are "closer" to the nature - animals, human beings and the environment.

I study math and philosophy, so to answer your question: what do i make? absolutely nothing. lol
If it is really boring for you, why do you study economics; if you want to study (ie. not work) there is so much out there that could fit any person's interests; you just have to dig a bit.
I am sure you will find your place.
As for myself, I do feel that what I am studying is close to nature (math) and people (philosophy). A question I have for you is whether or not you are disillusioned now because it is exam time? If yes, you have nothing to worry about, everyone is.
Just stay true to yourself, Honguito.           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

hehe, I'm physics laboratory assistant

well, Physics are a part of Nature, so I guess I kinda fit into your theory (I'm not exactly sure if I'm kidding;))

personally (as probably most here do) I try to see the people and not to much define them over their work, but it would be interesting to see a correlation between psy and work.

and yeah, there is more to life than having a big shiny car and a huge tv

for me ecstasy kind of represents this materialistic way of life, as you said "some kind of artifical happiness of short duration" (the words I will probably use in future if somebody wants to hear how it feels), but then, I'm going off topic too

I think even in the dry materialistic area of economics you can bring to it the higher human consciousness that you get from trance. And really, you can apply compassion and humanity to almost any field of work. God knows we need more of that to temper the greedy capitalism that's destroying this planet. Honguito, we need you in the field of economics! Study hard!

I'm a software test engineer but more for the paycheck than as a passion. someday I'll know what I want to be when I grow up...

hey economics is not capitalism, capitalism is one possible system. ecomomists are the ones who change the world most directly. we need people like you in economics it sounds like. remember marx was an economist. i personally study the brain and behavior but i wish i had more time to study econ considering that it attempts to quantify and predict much of the fabric of our reality.

good luck in your endeavors and dont lose faith. if you fall in love with something else go for it. but make sure to do whta you love or you will be doing a disservice to yourself and your own existence.           ein chadash tachat hashemesh. there is nothing new under the sun. --kohelet.

I work in a kindergarden. It’s a very rewarding job - not economically though, but it’s really a job that brings a smile to my face.           DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase
