nords are goods , some analogs too, best would be if you can try before buy.

Thanks for the compliments, but it's more about ease of workflow than good mixes in the long run. If it takes me 10 hours just to mix my bass in right, I lose a lot of creative energy. "Taking away the guesswork" is what I'm looking for - and if that means monitors, I'll do it.
But - you're right - I should probably focus on producing, live set, and gigs...
Djones, why you say Nord for squelches, rather than analog? Anyone else have experience?

I'm sure there are nice analogs out there which do great and maybe even better squelch sounds than the Nords.
But most cheaper analogs don't feature a multimode filter, which kind of is pretty essential if you're looking to make some squelches.
Maybe the Korg MS-20 mini (with it's multimode filter) is good for squelches I don't know, but what I do know is that the Nords are the number 1 squelch machines in the Psytrance scene for a long time.
