I see flyers for them occasionally... the few I go to these days almost invariably suck. Badly. Raves and good production values just don't go together... |

I feel that this music affects people's outlook towards life as it does mine. gatherings should be psychedelic without being overly dark and more uplifting in the morning 5 am onwards keeping with spirit of transition between day and night.
honestly the problem always is that people are always spent by 4-5am of hard dancing then and never have the same kind of energy as they did before..
people tend to get tired right about there and wander out or start chilling and talking to other people ..and that may be the reason why lots of djs play dark music because that way they get to play during those prime slots..
very few gatherings like AUM are exceptions to this rule..but they are rare.. the dancefloor at AUM just kept on going till about 10 am on many times..I love when that happens..
Balance is important in life to me in every aspect..no one aspect should skew it.

yeah i agree that dancing at parties dies here just about a little after sunrise... was very surprising for me when i first got here. i think that if you have a party that ends at sunset on a sunday, by sunday morning people want to start chilling some more so they can get back home safely... and are not happy about dropping the morning time *A* to get some more energy |

actually i've seen massive crowds dance long past sunrise on the East Coast and West Coast both. Just never in the middle..
  ..it's just another party.. |

I think a significant contributing factor to whether people dance past dawn is whether or not they're drinking alcohol. |

it's also cultural - many people here look at the clock and automatically think 'time to leave/go to bed'.
  ..it's just another party.. |

There is no better booster than a can of cold beer@sunrise
Or maybe there is: beer + chillum

The problem is that those who would like a can of cold beer at sunrise typically have been drinking since midnight... so while in a vacuum that cold beer may be a boost, over the night the alcohol is draining. It's like chips... can you really claim that you will consume only one? =) |

GorillaDust has the right idea.
White wine is an excellent choice at sunrise for a bit of the old freshening up. |

Well, as was said by someone before I prefer dark, and I could listen to it all day and all night at a party. I don't feel a party is complete until at least an hour or two of darkpsy has been played
But this is usually not possible unless I'm in North Carolina. hehe
Otherwise I like it as follows:
9-12 full-on/chillout to ease everyone in to the party
12-2 twilight psy/ South African to ease into dark (if they want to get a head start on the dark here, that's great haha!)
2-7 I like it dark fast and twisted.
7-9/10 twilight to full-on, and during the day it doesn't really matter to me what is played as long as it's not the cheese
For some reason, I like the idea of how Goa Gil picked up the bpms a WHOLE LOT at sunrise, as if for everyone to get a second wind for the day to come ;-) |

intelligent - intricate and purely psychedelic dark music all day long. Heavier mind frying stuff in the night and then more chilled out yet still dark music through the day, fullllllll power all the time. and one more thing OUTDOOR ONLY. Far away from civilization, or atleast some place where you can feel like civilization is far away. Maybe at the end of it all some nice chill out music, it would be cool to end with some pink floyd too.
I think parties are all the same in the fact that people really lose it at nite and are basically tired by the afternoon, unless the party is like multiple days, then you can nicely eat, sleep, wake up and lose it again!
BOOM!!
