so we're all learning and evolving right?... some more than others... some copy stuff, some come up with their own... but what about you?
What do you think makes your music deserve existence?

I'd say my music is different because:
-I try not to follow other people: I just make (or try) what I enjoy. Last week I make a trash metal song
-I tweak the synths and create my own patches for just about every sound I use: that way it's always a little unique. I might use a preset to start off with (not always in the mood to start from a single oscillator), but is most certainly get heavily tweaked
-I haven't been tought any musical theory: most of it has come from experimentation and hours spent with a high head and my guitar, so anything I do is constrained by my own assumptions of what's right and what's wrong which might even be totally incorrect, which raises the odd's of no one else doing similar
-It's me making it: there is no two people who are the same, we are all victims of our mis-perception of reality and no two people have the same perception of any object.
What makes it deserve existence? Well, it's art. I like it. You may not, but then again being art the receiver for the emotions I want to transpose may not be open-minded or in the ideal state to listen to it (like me listening to kizomba). Even the entire world might not like it, it might not have any value whatsoever. It might only exist for the sake of existing, as long as it hasn't done any damage or harm.
But really, it exists so I don't go crazy, and it makes me pleased to create. Almost like pleasure in a bottle, don't you think?

it's different because:
i make all sounds myself: no samples, no loops, no presets. that alone is almost guaranteed to yield results different from other people
i'm constantly trying to reinvent my music. if i'm not trying something new, i'll get bored while working on a track. so i'll experiment a lot.
i don't stick to formulas. not those for fullon, nor those for progressive, dark or goa (the genre i'm making; not too popular atm, so that alone makes it different from most).
the most important thing in a track for me is its atmosphere. imho a lot of psytrance focuses on drive, melodies, weirdness, glitchness or on mass-compatibility (;-)), so i think i'm in the minority here.
the music i like of course influences the music i make. everyone has a different musical background and preferences.
"What do you think makes your music deserve existence?"
what a strange question . i have fun creating music and listening to it. i think that's enough. |

most of my sounds are scratch, besides some drum and percussion samples. synthesis is a great thing! and as great as some of the sounds in your average dark psy or fullon track are. the limits need to be pushed, i want my music to be really different, but not so different you can't tell what it is.

I've noticed we all have different and hugely varying journeys which makes us not the same unlike machines... so i guess if honest effort is put in to the work, each one's work will be different taking into account everything that makes up that person... for eg remixes... most times it contains almost the same sounds as original but how 'you' use em makes it different...
