yeap thats it is,but I have to add about the term of trance that when you set a bridge between sleep and wake and jump in that middle moment,the second between the two lines is the real trance,waiting the time the you get asleep and dont let the sleep comes before you and catch you fall asleep....all those loops in music bring our spiritt in a hypnotic state,but even house music have repetitive beats ,but trance music have much more bpms,but drum n bass also have much bpms but is drum n bass and not trance.

The basic tempo is significantly faster than most mainstream trance music, and this has been attributed to the fact that constant sixteenth notes at a tempo of 145 bpm gives a rhythm almost identical to that of the naturally occurring alpha waves in the brain.
and thats just a small part of psy-trance! ;p |

If what ur asking is abt what trance means to each of us, i think in most cases its unexplainable. Trance makes trance trance... its the fact that its understood by so few, that makes it more desirable and special to those who do get it. If ur asking where it gets the power, id say the people and the music...
Musically as opposed to other electronic forms
I THINK the heavy use of fx, and delays, and of course rolling basslines, and different purcussive elements apart from the regualr high hat snare combo is what distinguishes psy trance from the general trance genre. Also parametrs undergo more modulation as to other electronic forms.
