What kind of computer specs?

I know this one has been asked numerous times before, as computers become better there are ? updates.
I want to get a PC to run ONLY !!! Pro Tools LE, FL Studio, all my plugins and sound generators and maybe winamp and my Evolver babe.... Only sound related stuff, nothing else.
Here are the specs I was thinking of. Please fill in your opinions on what to get.
so a Dual Quad, 2 gigs of memory (800) and 2 fast harddrives at least 1/2 tb each? (one for apps and win, the other for files. What about the firewire connector? 8 usb would be great, but I think 6 will be sufficient?
I have an xp pro disk with service pack 2.
PS. Please don't tell me to get a mac. If I had the $ I would get one, I don't, so please don't bug me on that one...

Unless you absolutely NEED to get one now..
Otherwise the specs you mentioned sound pretty good. USB/Firewire ports are up to you, and if you have PCI/PCI express slots open you can always add more..just depends what your other hardware requires.

mid November? Interesting. I have heard something in the beginning of the year that a new kind of processor technology is to be released around the end of 2008  that is supposedly many times faster than the fastest out there today. Question is the compatibility issue. Will it work with todays apps? I am a bit scared when it comes to that. (see Mac and OS10...)
