im definately for the better track selection and not as good mixing skill. Track selection is very important. Like for instance id much rather have some guy playing some killer dark and maybe fuckin it up a little once in while then have some guy playing pure cheese but mixing it up like a pro. look how goa gil mixes, he just cuts one track into another kind of. but he does it at the right moments and with the right tunes and it all comes together. so even if you have average mixin skills you can still create a journey. its about your track selection and how you plan to bring it together.

im sure there are enough djs who know how to mix well enough for the track selection/ "or story" to make the only difference:

a few examples of serious dj/storytellers that come in my mind:

Toto (world people)
psykosky (osom music?)
jun (trishula)
paolino (goamantra)
giuseppe (parvati)
zenkatsu
ocelot
mushed potato
iguana

all killer track selection.....all excellent mixing!!

hmmm i have very limited party experience in india but tool was one dj that i used to really enjoy. His sets were always interesting and ive never found myself bored at any time.

Anyone can can beatmix but it takes a lot more
to be able to take a dancefloor on a journey....

In fact these days with most parties having artists playing "live sets" its quite rare to get a really good dj playing at the peak hours.....           http://soundcloud.com/seer

Killer tracks, decent mixing, should keep the flow like a river that starts from a mountain & merges into the ocean...

A dj who plays music that suits my different moods .... basically someone who makes me dance & enjoy my trip & he need not be goa gil or chaicoffeesky or xenomorph or juno reactor .... he could be one of u           - - - - - - - -
It's time to move on to the next step in the psychedelic revolution. We've reached a certain point, but we're not moving any more.
