What is your excuse for downloading iillegal mp3?

my excuse is that i am not paying to anyone who doesnt even have a basic music education, who just sits there, rewrites ideas, uses ready samples, and then wants to live of that. i am not paying to amateurs. i have to first see what they have done. and then i could buy. or not. anyway i dont need excuse. put me in jail. otherwise you cant stop it. most of my cds are a present anyway. if it is so precious to the artists to keep their music for themselves, then they should do it. i will always have enough to listen to. from friends. at parties. in radios. it is all there. i dont need excuses.
my excuse is that i have spent months working on different things for this scene and took no cent for that, so i feel balanced.

So Moki, if you think all of that about psy artists, why the hell you would care to download their music or even listen to it? Sounds contradictory...

Man some people here are harsh 
I like Colin's stuff, if I was a promoter I would definetly have him play, seeing as how I enjoy live music and all 
For my personal part I buy around 60eur/month on cds, no digital downloads (waste of money), and I download quite a fair share of music which isn't psy just because I only believe in supporting underground artists and not RIAA or DRM associated artists (ie. Metallica)
I don't use ideas. Every time I have an idea it's too limiting, and usually turns out to be a disappointment. But I haven't run out of curiosity. -RR |

i dont have i download cuz i dont have other choise my mnoey situation is not good and is the same mostly in all latin america .........i dont fell bad cuz in my country alot of bookings to artists and if nobody lisen nobody is going to any gig so people download and go to the gigs ........i dont fell bad at all and buying musik cds all cds i just like one or two tracks no more ...... and get all musik i can get in hi quality for froon net labels ..........
@sargent 66666666 is easy to talk about soul and stuff for what money system money system is falling very fast !!!.......
and 3 world countryes is very diferent the situation ...... |

really, for the fans of psytrance in third world countries a Cd is very very expenssive.
In fact aorund here, downloading for free is "noral", buying is hat is consider pretty strange.

I definitely wonder how much money, if any, artists or labels would receive if they just gave out the tracks on a site with a paypal donation option.
Insomnia-fueled idea for psytrance economics: Artists or labels release one track at a time, in full quality, for free with a paypal donation link. They also post that when they get $x in donations, they'll put the next track up. Since a lot of artists, even moderately established ones, seem to get paid very little for tracks or sometimes nothing, let's just say $20. I could be wrong, but I'd like to think even in this community, people would donate that amount in a reasonable amount of time. Someone might even just donate the whole $20 at once if it was payday and they loved the track and really wanted to hear the next one.
Obviously this is a laughable amount of money to many artists. And if it's too low, some artists might get paid the full amount and start running out of tracks to have ready to post next! But I think they could do the same thing with much greater dollar figures.
Somehow this idea sounds stupid, and somebody has probably already posted it on some thread somewhere at somepoint. It would be neat to see somebody give it a try tho. |
