logic rulez...i find nuendo better than sx.also fruity is a good option but just for making loops.ableton 5 kick asses wit logic..but the most important thing is to find something that suit u ,u can make good music with almost everything.           Switch Off Power Schemes...

100& percent agree..

If ur a pc user try cubase sx, or maybe even reason to start of with

If ur a mac user logic is DEFFINATELY the way to go

Also digital performer is supposed to be really nice, but i have no experience using it...

good luck

my choice is cubase sx with fl studio rewired!

its a quite good combo-fruity for its easy sequencing loop creation,cubase..well for all the rest!

but recently i ve been hearing by ppl LOTS of praise for ableton live and that it combines with sx better!
maybe i have to check it too!

good luck friend!

Ableton Live is -the- tool for live performance and composition, excellent interface, logical and easy to understand, excellent composition flexibility, easy automation, audio routing, tonz of ableton native fx and samples,

the only issue is the cpu load, its way heavier than other multitracks/sequencers such as cubase or logic. but if you have some extra cpu, you wont mind spending it... i dont.           (www) DarkPrisma.com.ar/ ~ FranticNoise.com.ar/ ~ Megalopsy.com.ar/ ~

does it do the job or i have to get the live5?

I use CuBase SX 2, but have been trying out Sonar 5 and think I'm going to switch. I have to say, that CuBase is probably the easiest to find help with, as there is tons of info on various websites.... but I'm starting to believe that is the case because CuBase is not intuitive enough.

I'm so tired of Cubase... it is a superb tool but it feels more like "work" than "music" when I use it. Carpal tunnel from all the clicking

Live is more fun but then that too... the mixing is really poor... to do anything you want thats complicated... end up going back to Cubase..

i think that could happen with any multitrack application because it depends a lot on your skills as a musician, to give life and humanize a track/sequence is one of the most difficult things to acomplish when writing electronic music, specially downtempo.
but you have a good point, live offers some tweaking options to make a lane more 'human played' such as the delay time with 'swing' and other rythmic parameters you can tweak.

If you click too much with SX you should investigate the keycommands - the key to speedy and flexible working.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
