I want to ask to all you, what do you you use your basic template to start with from beginning of the production session?

Or is it just a blank paper?

Or do you put your groups in categories for the template or use multiple pre-made sends for example..

iv just made a simple template that has a few eqs on a few channels and a reverb send channel, a kick n bass bus channel and thats it. then start (trying) to creat something cool, useualy start finding a nice kick, then bass then percs the leads and so on. this seems to work for me, but its probably just habbit.

Basic template with:
- side chain installed
- few standard send effects
- some audio channels with standard eq and delays to throw audio on.
- group channels set up for hats, snare, general cuts below 125 and above 18khz.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

blank

...though once I have more than 10 or so channels I will color them and place them into groups for sanity purposes.           If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Ok, seems like most people prefer empty state. I can understand why, when its keeps the spirit always open..

To me i have basic set up for preferences and also few premade channel in mixer routed but empty from effects. Also i have few more sends routed to inserts, when FL offers so less from beginning. Those have some usable effects, which i can use for every project, like couple of different reverb.

i could work from empty quite happily, but like willsanquil has just said, i colour and label a few main channels, and im going to use an eq on most mixer channels and reverb. so i might as well have is set up ready.

Usually Blank.

But I like to have some templates ready, for those times you want to sit and immediately start composing. Imagine you've spent some time designing a kit of drums to your taste, along with a kick and bass, some leads and pads, some ready-made fx. If you make a template with this sounds ready to fire and costumized i/o routings, midi settings (if you're using hardware gear), maybe sends and returns for fx, you'll thank yourself one day.

My template had quite information. But actually, I did it just to remind the various techniques that I was learning.
Every time I open the software, these techniques were in front of me and helped me fixed and memorize.
But this just to help my studies.

the only change i made was save the template at 145BPM so dont have to alter tempo it much every time,

but i think workflow can still be improved with it
