What is Trance - a feeling? an idea? or something else?

when you are in the trance state of mind are you searching for something or are you waiting for something ...are you drifting or are you floating or are you fluttering...do you think trance is associated with the idea of movement and introspection or is it something else?
Are you wanting or waiting to be in Trance , or does trance comes to you naturally to you in any situation?

Non-dualistic state of contemplation, emphasised by a general quietening or silencing of the internal dialogue, seems to be in accord with my own experience.
Though I can see the analogy with being "seized by the holy spirit" though I dislike the ambiguous terminology.
Maybe we are just modern day Quakers, with our special friends meeting parties.

I've always liked this way of desribing it:
Trance is trance if and when you can't tell if it is the beginning or middle or end.
If you've befallen a stellar peice of music, and you can't tell if you are hearing the beginning or middle or end of a track, and don't care, then you're a trance cracker.

i always thought it was a state of mind...
when you drift away... to any place you want
you can trance in/out to anything... i think

To bad you never had the experience, its not a metaphor. Guess nobody can show it to you since its something you have to feel for yourself.
The easiest way for me to get into trance is when i go to sleep with headphones and some good low tempo psytrance.
