Astrix "Techno Windows":
a little kid's voice comes in mid-track and goes "WTF is going on?!"
any matrix sample gets a nod as well.
plus a lot of nitzhonot songs have god-awful samples in them

speaking of Dino Psaras....'Thank you for calling' off of the Spun Rec comp Pressure is also one of the worst
" (*dial tone in track for a minute or so*Thank you for calling D-I-N-O Thank you for calling D-J-J-J-D-I-N-O-O-O Hello? D-J-J-J-J-D-I-N-O-O-O-O"

May I inquire as to why? Correct me if I'm assuming wrongly here, but is it because you feel they are overused or too obvious?
In my mind, a choice of sample isn't 'better' or 'worse' depending on how easily one may identify the source. Sometimes on the contrary I'd say it can really help set the stage for a tune with a bit of added 'visual' memory stimulation in lack of a better term.
I reckon most samples can be made to work if applied with finess and good taste - those movies you mention lend themselves very well to sampling as there's a lot of thought-provoking dialogue (ok, maybe not so much in fear & loathing haha) but you see where I'm going with this, not a fan of the generalisation.
Case in point, Wizzy Noise - Maniac Distortion.
Super track and a rather long and profund matrix sample ending with "without purpose, we would not exist"
Very tastefully applied and entire tune just breathes matrix in the choice of pads, leads etc almost as if they could've used in the movie soundtrack. Nice!
The worst sampling in my opinion are short proclamations that don't seem to have a context or possibly any real thought behind them (Psycho killaaaaaargh anyone?)

"can u fuck as well as you dance" [I forget what the track was.]
I've never really asked someone to rate me on a scale of 1 to 10 on both, and tell me which one I did better on. But that's just me I guess.

thanks for the laughs!
there's a old (non psy-)trance track with a speech sample "last strain...cocaine". it's patched up from two different samples the latter being arnold schwarzenegger
also the old goa track with all the african animal sounds used to piss me off. chakra and edi's tune if i remember correctly. everybody else usually loved it and it was a hit.

you either mean sheyba - trance africa express with the elephant sounds which is a great track - or chakra & edi mis - x file (monkey mix) which has the monkey sample which might be annoying - but its in my opinion one of the best melodic tracks ever made or just that i have a softspot for it being one of the first tracks i ever heard |
