What is the purpouse of making music for you?
Big question i think!
For me its striving for new heights and evolving sounds and melodies.
Trying to outsmart the previous genious´s.
Or build on their ideas.
Give me your thought!

I feel drawn to it because it's contributed to so many personal emotional moments. I love music, what else is there to say.
It's technical and I'm a bit geeky.
It's fun (the process, and the satisfaction of a final product)
You are never the best you can be, there is always more to explore.
It's a unique form of expression.
I enjoy sharing knowledge and meeting like minded people.
It's a great, if slightly expensive, hobby. (That is, until someone buys some of my work!)
The only downside to production is that I do tend do listen to music in a different way, rather than just enjoying a song for what it is, I can't help hearing the layers more seperated and wondering "Cool, how did he do that" or "what a cheesy effect!"

i think there are two main purposes:
1.objective purpose: to make people dance (thats how it is in psytrance)
2.subjective purpose: to do something with our spare time in some cases fulltime that we are addicted too and makes us feel good for some reason.
i personly think that we are after an "artist life" which is kind of a fantasy, for me anything else besides music making is a compromise but who said that we live how we want to live?

To search for the addicting 'now' moment that you get sometimes. Like when something sounds 'right' (could be at any stage in your carreer) and you bang your head with closed eyes and a big smile on your face for some time. Then you want that to happen again and you need a new moment. That, every day, month, year, moment...
All the rest (getting live gigs, releases, fame, feedback,...) are only spinoffs of those moments and don't even come close to the fulfilment you get on those, what I call 'now' moments.
Another way of looking at it is a big computer game with endless levels and skills which you never get bored playing.
Big imo...

i like to create. a day without any creation is a lost day for me so either i write music or texts. the medium is different, but the reasons are the same. also, it's just an awesome feeling to produce something out of nothing, isn't it? it's so satisfying for me to "fill blank space" with something of my very own.
sometimes i ask myself what sort of difference it would make if i wouldn't have that artistic urge. damn, i wouldn't know what to do, it would be so boring.
