but if u dont like the pulse matrix layout you'll hate dave's evolver even more... it definitly is tweakable but not as easy u would like u have to have a midi splitter and a controller with lots of knobs then u will have the same tweakability as a nord or an sh101... after of course creating a template for it!

Since the evolver has a midi through you don't need the splitter, just daisy chaining it to a controller and then creating a template should do the job...

man im burnt right now, u just lost me
but i think
u would need 2 inputs one for the keyboard and the other for the controller with knobs and sliders... that would go into the evolver... the evolver has 1 input 1 out 1 thrue
so explain to me how'd u do it?, i just dont think its possible... unless of course u got a midicontroller piano with lots of programmaable cc knobes and slider...
but i got synths and my only keyboard controller is in my bed room lil set-up and thats those m-audio oxygen i believe really small board, just for jamming |

Update:
Hey guys, I managed to snatch an Evolver on ebay for $420 hehehe, should be here by next week. I can't wait...
And I also have checked the vi. All you need is that, a controller, the hardware and a usb and 2 midi cables, then you can connect the controller and the synth in the virtual interface. Cool!!!!

awesome upavas, good choice!
don't forget to make ur own wavetables and import them, its a free app by the way.
this open alot of territory on the evolver,
also its sequencer is fuckn great, im still learning the sequencer but its mad fun and allows some cool changes of waves per step,
also don't forget to check the os, and this an analog machine if you gotta change os then you also have to change the chip inside, contact Dave Smith and he'll send you one, i've done business and chatted with him via email and he's a really nice guy very down to earth type of guy, i think this is the best customer support i've had, u get assisited by the man who brought us not only this great piece (EVOLVER) but also other great synth let's not forget the midi, he played part in
you would think he's perhaps some stuck-up cunt but this guy is the best, very keen to help out no hassles, im very pleased and surprise that a company like this would operate in this fashion, imagine the creator helping out not some smuch who don't know crap... do check the knobs though, my friend copied me and bought one but returned it cus the knobs jumped values, he got another one and same proble he finally gave up and said fuckit and gave up on the evolver, i guess he was just an unlucky fuck but mines is top notch who knows maybe he didnt get the new os and therefore had that bug, so do check it out, also comes with plug adapter for practicly the whole world, i wish other manufactures would follow this trend, Evolver gets a 10 in my book, compact yet powerful synth, then again some say the evolver is a lil sequential prophet 5 and a sequential vs hehehehe they still carry the same curtis filters due to him having a close connection that only gives em to him, i read dat somewhere, anyways enuff ramblings heheh enjoy ur evolver, meanwhile start your countdown.. |

hahaha sounds good... have u messed around with the built-in sequencer yet? fuck with that and let me know how many hrs were u there for now? hehehe Peace
i tend to take mines to my girl's house since its soo small... and thats when i usually mess with the sequencer, u can get some crazy shit with that feature, i love the analog drum capabilities on that synth very hmmm 80's but with a sprinkle of futuristic. again this a puppy im sure alan wilder would haved used if it were the 80's again dam i sure loved the 80's.
try to recreate the bassline from New Order - Blue Monday but a psytrance remix
it was originally a moog source but with the evolver is fucken fun. |

i find it weird thinking like this... "what is the cheapest bla bla.... "
i would rather think ... what`s the best i can get ? what would benefit me most ?
is it worth spending money on it ? or should i save up a little more and get top quality? (or as good as i can).
my 2 cents on this.
if u dig deep enough u just might reach the sky...

But to answer the actual topic according to the title I would have to say the cheapest that is worth buying will be the ESQ-1.
It sucks to work with, but it sounds really unique and can be had for next to nothing.

2nd to that! The esq-1 is unbeatable for the money. Don't know why you think it sucks to work with though... It's the most hands on "no knobs" synth I ever encountered. A joy to work with and fast results.
