well any one planning to use it live will definitly have a hard time, unless they use some other controller with lots of knobs, of course you'd have to spent time programming it but well worth it then you save as preset for quick recall, once done your set...

so for anyone planning to use it live, it be a concern, so... some would CARE... I would and others would too... we are entitled to our opinion right mate
Cheers

i don;t know how to take that comment of -
who cares... im trying to help someone make
a purchase and letting them know my experience with the unit for all thats packed into such a machine and despite that- being pretty straightforward is worth it...

i'll asume its an misunderstanding, so i wont take it the wrong way
Cheers Medea

i just wanted to say that programming a hardware synth is not a big problem, no matter how many physical knobs does it have, if you have a software-based editor for it.

well, the physical knobs in these machines are not the problem its the fact that you might have to press two different button to use certain parameters and then again to use the others, and all this can cause problem even to an experience individual during a live show...
especially if your fucked up
but u see if you buy the miniboard version is fine you got knobs galore without the press these two button to change the other parameters if you got the evolver
you'd know how the matrix was set-up very similiar to the waldorf pulse or micro q rack... it's a design
based off its shortcomings, to keep cost down for consumers... the blofeld follows the same pattern

also something worth mentioning here is... dude why not build your synth? theres a site call midibox
and its a really cool forum for the do it yourself community! u can build urself a sid chip synth or a radikal ass step sequencer etc... hows that for a change in here...
this topic started off as analog but turned out
also digital VA... if thats the case consider urself an sid machine - its hybrid half digital half analog
and sounds way different than any other synth...
its based off the commodore chips
6581 - first batches
8580 - the newer batches
6582 - the batches that came out just before production of the commodere 64 halted, most of these chips being old new stock if you decide to buy the chips...

these chips are getting harder to find.... the sid station costed like 1,500 or something like that and that was just one 6581 chip now if u build your own
u have a sidstatioon with up to 8 sid chips
each chip has 3 channels which gives you
24 channels or polyphony in comparison to todays synths...
i grew up with the sounds and likings of sound of these chips... chip tunes are nerdy but cool...

i cannot stress how cool these chips are. they got
sould and something worth mentioning is that the chips all have their charactr just like the roland tb 303... an other wow factor....

i welcome u all to chek this radio station
http://www.radio6581.com/

its all sid chip based music... i have heard some really radikal psy tracks with the sid chip and it fuckn cuts thrue a mix like a knife on butter...

BOOM

I hear you psyaudionamics. I do like the warmth of an analog devil

Thanks for the input on the Blofeld.

The Nova had one knob missing, the potentiometer was still working though...

I have never been hot on the commodore 64 although I have heard mean stuff. I used to get tortured on that one from a game audio teacher I had quite some time ago...

One guy even used Goat Tracker to make a Psy sound, forget what it was though...

I would save up and buy a second-hand Alesis Andromeda, seriously you can't go wrong with it           I don't use ideas. Every time I have an idea it's too limiting, and usually turns out to be a disappointment. But I haven't run out of curiosity. -RR

And now someone offered me a Micro Korg for $ 250, he says it is in mint condition. Waddaya say?

I know it is digital, but at that price???

He said I can come by and check it out...

However having said that I like the concept of the evolver. And the fact that 2 osc are analog and 2 digital...

Thank you for such a promt reply psyaudio. I do think the same and will get an evolver as soon as I can find a used one that is in good condition. And I will definitely go for the 3rd party plugin as well.

Many thanks to all of you guys, you rock!!!

your welcome sir, im sure you'll be happy with the
evolver and plugin add on choice,,, money well spent and a preety darn deep synth, it'll suit your sound needs for years to come, u can also import ur own wavetables, something no- one else mentioned
try that on ur virus ti folks hehe... it has a nice lil sequencer too... im sure depeche mode's alan wilder would have liked a evolver... Dave smith is a great synth designer his vast years of experience could only be compared to bob moog sort to say this is the same dude that came out with the prophet 5 we're talking bout here, nuff said also somethin you should consider is that these synths have held their value in the used market really good so u just might have to buy one brand new... they're price hasnt drop at all really so if u want cheaper u might have to wait way too long 2 yrs perhaps?? but u might find one at good price if person selling is in need of quick cash, drug problem perhaps LOL ... i just picked up an Alesis AI-3 mint on ebay super duper cheap try $150 with fiber optic cable and including the shipping, so if u run good game with the seller and they are also a bit in need of cash u might get lucky just be nice , respectful, and most of all important funny, humour is good when doing business, thats all i know from my experience, with dealers aswell. so there upavas u also got some advice on making that purchase hehe LOL jam on, ima go smoke one!
