Hi all How are you?

I'm looking for a killer synth to produce killer bassline tracks for a psy trance production... Can you help me?

What is the best virtual instrument or synth to make the bassline nowadays?

Thanks
Andy

Hi there!
im fine, how are you?

a killer synth? sounds dangerous! hehe
First thing, there is no best, its all down to taste.
here are the most used bass VST

Vb1
Muon Tau
Trilogy
Sylenth
Chronox(2 and 3)
z3ta+
Alien 303

the list could go on forever though as you can make "killer" baselines with many many different VST and hardware for that matter

i have my gems for extra phat bass but i dont share everything

Trilogy and massive.

If you can't make a good bass sound with these, then give up

Well at least try a bit harder.

try the minimonsta or oddity (arp) both very clean ,i use them insteed of the ones in trilogy but imo kontakt sux for bassline, env are not snappy or maybe i don t know how to set them ... just try this test, remove the envelop on the volume then add one , it sound like even the envelop full open add few milliseconds of delay (maybe i was too stone that day but anyway most other samplers i tried have more snap)

Open EXS 24. Factory>Bass>Synth Bass> voila.
Bare in mind the person who created the sampler instrument has set his own resonance, envelope, filter, drive settings, unison...etc
Set the resonance, drive to 0, turn unison off, the set the filter cut off, ADSR (amp) attack and release to 0 (or right before you hear the envelope clicking) and start programming your bassline with a raw minimoog saw and your ADSR and envelope index settings.
Obviously the thing that will make a difference is how you EQ and compress what you end up with.

Since you are a logic user you should really check ES1, ESM as well.
