What is the best free sampler/drum machine for mac?

I'm looking for a temporary alternative to the "sampler" tool in ableton live. I'm just looking for a simple plugin that will allow me to program various wav's to individual keys so I can easily write midi rhythms with 10 or more samples. Any suggestions?
Right now I'm using the advanced sampler or redrum in reason and rewiring it in, but it seems rather silly to have to do that. If there's no real good free solution I could see spending a maximum of $50, but anything more than that seems like a little much.
