In addition to the albums I've already mentioned earlier in this thread, I ended up picking up Warp Technique's Make Animals Happy, and I have to say: It is the Bomb!
Absolutely love it! Deep 'n' phat goodness! Definitely one of the highlights of 2008!

I think 2008 was a really poor year for chilled releases. |

well, i can't choose one because unlike CosmoNaughty, i think 2008 was a very productive year.
but of course it's all a matter of taste and you can't argue on taste.
anyway, here are my favorites in no particular order.
HOL BAUMANN - Human
Ott - skylon
JAMES MURRAY - Where Edges Meet
I AWAKE - The Core
Kaya Project - And So It Goes
Bombay Dub Orchestra - 3 Cities
cheers !

After giving it some thought, my favorites that were released this year (in no particular order) would be Dreamtime Submersible, Make Animals Happy, and Kalitz. Yes. I am a sheep. |

I'll go with a sleeper-Psycrowdelica: Home Edition downtempo CD.
I thought it was a nice snapshot of the numerous styles of downtempo going on right now, arranged in a very intelligent order. Although it's consistent with the psychill sound, almost all the tracks stand out in some way from the genre's conventions-a rarity this year for sure.
I also enjoyed the Juxta Phona and OfftheSky-"!Escapekit!", v/a-Plantation, and Bluetech's "Phoenix Rising."
I have high hopes for James Murray, but am waiting for it to hit the digital shops. |

Very hard to pick out a best of 2008. I see alot of very good releases mentioned but I am surprised to see that noone mentions,
Mystical Sun - Energy Mind Concsioussness
which is definately among the best of 2008!

Great albums indeed
