Maybe some of you can shed soem light on this one. I have done a search.. But have not been succesful. Im researching on how to create this crazy synthy drum sound. I hear it in a majority of the psy production. here is a soundbite..

Unfortunately the discovery is a PC only vst... So it won't be too feasible for you to pull it off...
BTW, I love the discovery and Synth 1... Great Nord emulators!

I'm runnig a G5 Mac & Logic 7 Guys.
Anything on the Mac that might help?
I was able to get a comparable sound from the Motu Mx4. But still doesn't have that twisting leather sound.
Any Ideas???

It is very easy to make this sound with any synth that allows the ADSRs to modulate the oscillator's pitch. Use only one oscillator for the patch. Saw waveforms are the ones to go for to get the exact sound, but pulse waveforms are just as good. The amount of envelope modulation on the oscillator exaggerates the effect and in conjuction with the sustain setting, you will be able to set the pitch of the oscillator when the decay parameter reaches the sustain stage of the envelope. Set the fastest attack and as fast a decay as you want the pitch to "slide" down. Set the fastest release as well.
A resonant high pass filter is a nice touch, that thins the sound and bring the mids back in as you sweep down, but band pass or low pass will do just fine as well. Put a tight stereo delay if you want rythmic stereo patterns.

Its a real audio file from the saiko sounds website. just open from within real aduiio if the file downloads to your desktop.

yup just like 14-yr-old-etard said. Also try using an LFO (I like it on random but any waveform will work) to modulate the cutoff frequency. it gives the squeeky sound much more dynamics. |
