I dont mean to ofend any producers/dj's...
They all have real talent,but i think one should think about what they are making before they throw it into the "Psychedelic" category!
Most psy trance these days is just a mix of Techno/Hard House/Rave!!Just because it has a fast and hard bassline with some little tweaked sounds,and ofcorse the break every 2 minutes, doesnt mean that its psychedelic!!
But its all about the money these days i guess, or isnt it!?!?
There are so many artist that could realy make some good quality psy,it just makes me wonder why they dont!!!I mean, put on a good set of headphones and listen to some of the russian artists...now thats what i call psychedelic,so many sounds to listen to, could never get bored of it!!you shouldnt have to lay out your sounds,they should just flow into eachother insted of have 1 sound comeing in after another.Lets take Ocelot for example,sounds are so perfect and they have such a good flow,listen to his album "Vector Selector",you can hear how each track progress's!!You dont have to wait for after the break for it to go mad,it starts pschedelic and ends that way to,just gets better and better!!!
I think alot of people are miss lead by party fliers when they say its a "pschedelic trance festival"....I mean wouldnt you expect them to play psy!!??It doesnt have to be dark or evil, but it can atleast be pschedelic!One shouldnt have to take drugs to make a track psychedelic...its quit sad if they do!!
There is very little music in the world that has such influences on the mind....
