i see two fairly good ways:
1. hihat goes nowhere, die down and there is only everlasting kick drum dominator
2. kick drum disapears and there is ethernal hihat

No way the bass drum will fade, maybe it will be substituted by something else but its essential, however I agree with you in the hi hat thing...
