Sorry to clog up the forum with another new post, but this is driving me bat-shit-crazy.
I have created a nice psy-bass in Cronox2, and in the interface it has a knob called Depth, which it tells me is linked to Filter Envelope Depth. I cannot find this knob on my other VSTs, nor within the Ableton Live Operator/Analogue built in synths....and especially annoying, I can't find it in Cronox3!
It must have another name....just spent the last 2-3 hours trying to re-create my bass on Cronox3 only to have it sound pretty much worse than on 2 lol

Depth = how deep something is.
Filter depth = 0 = no envelope
Filter depth = 127 = lots of envelope

I see. thanks guys - it just seems like when I crank the depth on cronox2 the effect is much more pronounced then when I do the same in another synth. must be something else I'm not configuring properly |

You will find this on all synths pretty much.
There isn't one thing as far as env and depth go.
Depth is multiplying the envelope with another signal, it will depend on what the programmers decided were good bounds for that multiplication. Also all envs are not the same, different shapes and different speeds. |

Yeah it seems I'll most likely be sticking with Cronox2 for now - I guess my 'logic' that the next iteration would be better than the previous was not correct...spent a couple more hours configuring operator/albino/cronox2/cronox3/ and got the best sound out of cronox2
thanks again for the illumination |

This can be confusing to noobs. A filter eg (envelope generator) knob is usually positioned at 0, and you can adjust it to +127 (some synths also allow negative envelope control, so the envelope works negatively on the cutoff, aka 0 - -127) This is how much the selected envelope is allowed to control the filter cutoff.
I think you got it, just clarifying.

Yes, that's correct. Thanks for putting it so eloquently. Excuse my "quick and dirty" post.
