I kind of feel like dark psy is a jack of all trades, master of none
it's harsh, but not as harsh as industrial
it's dark, but not as dark as drum and bass
it's fast, but not as fast as speedcore
it's crazy, but not as crazy as breakcore
it's psychedelic, but not as psychedelic as goa |

I've come to determine that there is no real definition..it's all opinion..you write what you feel it is and that's what it is to YOU 
if it's shit it's shit..if it's amazing it's amazing..if it gets you going more than any other type of music, it does...does it make you feel funny???? i like music that makes me feel funny, weird, off balance, dizzy, confused, enlightened...chill bumps are a must...
the real question is...what is good music?

I think what makes music good is:
a. Uniqueness or innovation
b. Well-crafted.. has to be obvious that it was special to the artist who made it
c. conveys emotion in a way which seems authentic |

A short rant on the original topic, if I may:
“darkpsy” is just a (rather unfortunate) name of a style. It does not translate as “psytrance with a dark mood” any more than “Goth” would translate as “songs about King Theodoric” or “black metal” would translate as “songs about blacksmiths”.
All these exclamations like “I listened to this darkpsy artist/album/track and it doesn’t sound dark to me!” – it’s just silliness, IMO. The same like saying “I used my espresso cup for cooking and the results don’t taste anything like the recipe promised!” Well, of course they don’t – “a cup” means half a pint, not your favorite coffee vessel – it’s just a conventional name.
We all accepted the fact that much (most?) of Goa is not produced in Goa, that at least some Suomi is not Finnish, that a lot (most?) of Nitzhonot is not produced in Israel and that a lot of progressive does not really progress anywhere.
Why is it so hard to accept that at least some darkpsy is not of a dark mood??

Wow!!! 8 pages and there are peeps who still resist change.. Thankfully this sound keeps changing or we would be one of those guys who sit back crying everything used to be better. Besides, the facts are, Darkpsy is an artist with released albums on Deja Vu and Sin Records including 10 plus singles on compilations.
