I'll consider commercial as a genre and not as a cause.
Well, I like commercial. I like club trance, and I like cheesy trance. Only 1 thing about it: make it melodic. If I want a boring repetitive beat, underground does it much better than commercial.

If GMS, infected mushroom, astral projection, alien project, Astrix etc... are commercial, so bamboo forest, human blue, skazi, raja ram and even hallucinogen and Goa Gil are commercial too... They all have already played together...

I think we first need to define what makes a song or a producer commercial.
To me commercial sounds like "the easy digestible sounds", the songs that you did not have to have a background to understand or feel almost everything the music brings. In this sense Hallucinogen surely isn't commercial.
Good Jazz isn't commercial...
Commercial also may means conventional... In this sense GMS is commercial. But I like GMS...

Inside the universe of commercial psytrance there are lots of good songs...

It's difficult to say what is commercial, many different people like sphongle does that make sphongle commercial ?
If many people from different backgrounds can listen to the same music does that make it commercial ?

after reading what many of you wrote i come to a conclusion , by you ,
Success = Commericalization....
thats what you write, not me,just because GMS ,Infected,Skazi,Astrix and more sell lots of Cd's...
Trance is not commerical just like Wako said...
that is my opinion

PS
Producing is the work of these guys, what do you want them to do? stop doing that? or produce a track once a month? decide

Commercial (adjective):
1. Involved in work that is intended for the mass market: a commercial artist.
2. Having profit as a chief aim: a commercial book, not a scholarly tome.
3. Sponsored by an advertiser or supported by advertising: commercial television

Why this thread is ridiculous: The genre that we love so much, psy trance, is not intended for the mass market. It gets no radio or TV play, except for maybe in Israel. Therefore it cannot be defined as commercial.
A successful CD sells around 5000 copies, how much money is made off that? Not enough to call it commercial.
There is to my knowledge, no corporate sponsorship or advertising in the mass media.
In this genre, if you are making money then you must be doing something right. But, if you aren't making money, then you aren't neccessarily doing something wrong.

I agree with you Apocalipse.... but we have to put something in our mind:

"Money: the machine of the world"

It shouldn't be, but it is.           "Who is this doin this synthetic type of alpha beta psychedelic funkin?"

I agree with Wako Jako and Apocalypse Now:
Psytrance (which is very different from "trance") is not commercial (yet). But maybe someday it will be, just like techno and "trance" weren't commercial one day (long ago)... But there will always be an underground scene.

I think that everyone is commercialised at the end but for my opinion when you take a band like infected and rejoined them with someone like barry saharof (well this what they have done) than for my opinion they passed the line . "give me a brake" he is not by any form relate to trance and its nice to share and perform together but not when you come from a totaly different place.
I have nothing against barry but lets face it, they did it and for me they won.
After being to eilat and saw them both i realy dont feel like hearing them for a while even though i like their music.

Well that's why some move over to world music or tech-house
