Hello everyone! I've been a psytrance fan for a lot of years and I have been reading posts in the Isratrance forum for a while as well, I just never really bothered to join. The forum is amazing, loads of interesting things to read here and there and I really enjoy the fact that many artists or label ppl write here too, showing there's no "star" attitude in our scene. Keep it up!
To the point now...

My computer is a Pentium 2.6MHz with 1Gb RAM and I am using Cubase SX 2 (with SB Audigy shiiiit with lots of VST's and FX (got no hardware at the moment). I have decided to invest on some hardware (a good soundcard and a synth) with some money I have managed to save, so I would like your advice...

For the soundcard I have decided on one of these three:
1)Creamware Scope Home 3 DSP (£350)
2)RME Hamerfall DSP 9632 (£350)
3)EMU 1820M (I've read it has got the same 24 bit 192kHz convertors with Digidesign's ProTools system!) (£350)

For the synth (I'm looking to spend around £1000):
1)Access Virus Indigo V2 (£1000)
2)Novation XStation 25 (to use mainly as a controller) (£400) plus Nord Lead 2X (Rack) (£500)

What are your opinions on these? If you think any better alternatives for soundcard and synth with same amount of money, pls suggest it... I am more attracted to prog-psy and tech-psy than full-on crap, if it matters.

Anyway, thanx!!

Id recomend you wait with the synth and invest in monitors and a good midi keyboard (evolution series are great).
Unless you feel your really pushing the Vst's to the max, i think that synths are necassery for entry level.
tal           Work like you don't need the money.

tal has made an important point here... dont rush do buy a synth unless you've maneged to opitmize your vst usage , i think it's more rational to buy such gear after a while in the producing process.
(but it's your money and i understand the pasion to work on a synth so last call is yours )

now...
for the sound card you can trust all of those manufactures because each and every one of them will support you in case that help will be needed (and it's very important issue) , i would buy the RME.

now for a synth i'm not quiet sure so my advice for you is to read any piece of information you can find and check out some stores which will agree to intreduce you some elemnts on it.

good luck!           <One learns people through the heart, not the eyes or the intellect>

I wanna advice you to buy first a decent sound card and a pair of active
monitors because it's your ears and nothing isn't more important then those.

If you still wish for more you can buy a Midi keyboard/controller.
Don't jump too far..

Peace..

Guys, first of all, thanks for all the feedback. Truth is i haven't got very good monitors and I should buy a nice pair of them, but I think I will leave it till the next time I get some money on my hands, I think I will be allright with the ones I've got for the time being. I think I should start by getting a decent soundcard cause SB audigy sucks (so, which of the three I mentioned would you buy and why), and as far as the synth, what can I say, sure I could get a midi controller to control my VST's from there, but a synth... man,... that's a different story (eliran, maybe you can understand!).As soon as I got my hand on one (from a friend, Microkorg), I realised this was where I should put some money on, I really got a hard on, lol!
I've been using reason and fruity for 3 or 4 years and I've recently moved to cubase for obvious reasons (quality!! and not only ), I ve never tried to release anything but I got very good feedback from friends that encouraged me to keep it up, and maybe if I'm lucky to release smthing, hopefully!
So...
I've read a lot of specifications concerning the synths I mentioned but I was looking forward for some comments from someone that has used them, in order to make some comments about what they 're good at or not, etc...
Any other suggestions are always welcome!!
Thanx!

... and smthing I forgot to ask.
Would I be able to use the knobs and sliders of a synth to control the VST soft synths, so in other words use the synth as a controller keyboard too?

u can control all vst thru the nord

Some synths make pretty good controllers...
Me myself have a Modular G2, and with a little patching u can use it as a midi-controller...
The G2 is not really an entry-level synth, but the way it's designed will let you learn about synthese much better than my first synth (Korg Prophecy) with all menus and sub-menus...but I have to say that in that time (1998),there wasn't much vsts around, so the step 2 buying hardware was easier...
I think going for the Scope option would be the best idea...you have 2 in 1 !!!!
Many people here say 2 buy good monitors first, which is a very good thing, but i know how tempting it is to get some serious knob tweaking...
But be aware....hardware is like hard-drugs !!! Very addictive....
But from your choices i would say...
Get a creamware card (Pulsar/Scope), with all synths & stuff included...and then U can still buy some monitors...
If you're really desperate of getting a "Real"- synth....get a 2nd-hand Nordlead...
But that's just my opinion

Happy Tweaking !!!!

oscillating braincell look , it's your money and after all we make music out of love and pure fun so go buy your self a synth start learning it play with it that way you'll gain more experirnce till next time you buy a monitors , dont let the money hold you.

its JUST money. just enjoy.

but dont loss your head boy , that's my best advice i think (after a good sound card of course hehehe )           <One learns people through the heart, not the eyes or the intellect>
