make sure the previews are long enough to get a good idea of the track. At least 4 minutes.
I would only really pay for flac/wave i think. But you could also add a mp3 320 or vbr high for people that still have mp3 players smaller than 1 gb

I can't think of any good reason not to have full-length previews. No one's going to rip off a 96k MP3 sample!

I still haven't bought a musicfile in my life exept for the Earth Moving the Sun album through my phonecompany on to my cell. I guess that might change in the future. cd ftw.
Only wanted to wish you good luck on this. Imo a lot of lessons could be borrowed from Ektoplazm's many years of hard work to perfect the system of free and buy music (wav, cd). And i think a lot of artists could even sell their induvidual tracks on their own homepage. so many opertuneties.
