Son kite are one of the best musicians the psytrance scene ever had.

They have the guts to explore new sound territories, they evolve, they learn.

They go deep in to everything they try, the second albums is pure "in your face" trance, completely minimal, techno-tribal-trance.

The third album is pure melodies, but no one of them is cheessy, still to this day it sounds Amazing.

Then their work as minilogue has been terrific, using analog synths in very innovative ways, tracks like space, seconds, the leopard, animals are trully beautifull pieces of art.

Their project IMPS is quite good also with a jazzy vibe and excelent composition.

Its a shame their 4th album as SOn kite hasnt been realesed for years.

I'm a big fan of their sound, and I could go on and on about their amazing tracks over the years (add to that their Minilogue, Ooze, Filur/Kooler productions).

We were lucky to have them as part of our scene!          DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

good to see im not the only one who thinks like that and is missing the golden days of psyprogg. Back then every release was a new discovery and nothing sounded the same. Ticon, Son Kite, Antix, Freq and Vibrasphere where truly outstanding projects...pitty that most of them do now either stereotype techno and their music is not that specail anymore.

Its really sad to see that now psyprogg is mostly about humpa humpa sound ala neelix or semi full on like ace is dooing. But i know it by myown expirience...its dificult to produce something completle new...so sometimes you just take the easy path and do something that you know it works

That's a bold admission to make, so much respect for your honesty.

Maybe that's the time when it's good for an artist to step away and take some time to listen to the world. Let inspiration come when it's least expected.

I still love Antix's new stuff and Minilogue but they've definitely both changed.

Antix's music caters more to the prog house crowd now but it manages to keep some of that psyprog flavor and still sounds very distinctive. The only thing I don't like is the drums--they're very minimal pop-click sounding which is not to my taste.

Minilogue is one of the few groups making minimal techno that DOESN'T sound generic--cocoon is one of my favorite minimal labels along with M_nus of course

They're both leaps and bounds above most of what tribal vision and similar labels release.

Oh and Motion drive - your stuff is very good as well!

If I can criticize you, though, your tracks' structure is still very formulaic--I'm listening to your album "In The Dirt" now and all of the tracks seem to have a breakdown in about the same location.

The german beatport mafia topping the "psytrance" chart is a fucking joke it hurts my ears when I press the play button, mainly because they are not trying to sound special like people did in the beginning of the 00's.

Amen to that and I could add more but I would probably just be flamed           www.beatagency.dk

Some artists do not have sounding special as a goal. Especially producers who start out as DJs--they make tracks to fill gaps in their DJ collection.

you cant argue with taste....

Still its good that there are tracks that sound alike cause to make a seamless mix you need similarities. But of course now and then its good to throw in something different in a tasteful way...

Sure they are really good. But you are comparing all the artists with the best of the best. Isnt that a little unrealistic? I think there are still loads of good artists around.
Ok it isnt the beginning of the genre anymore. so you don't have to expect too many interesting new turns. But they will be there eventually.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

I'm happy to see that lots of people recognize the creative genious of Son Kite Distinctive sound indeed... but no need to copy it to death or create a whole new style around it
Every artist should go its way and learn by trial-and-error what is his own sound.
I'm not a minimal fan but was veeeeery impressed by Minilogue at Boom Festival, fantastic traveling tripping melodic act they did there!

Today prog is very very stereotyped, but of course there is very good prog in there (Ace Ventura, Haldolium, Liquid Soul, Mindwave, Ovnimoon, Symphonix, etc), I just wish some of them tried more to be less predictable.

There is a few creative minds out there pushing the barrier, towards the new or the old.

Tetrameth, New Age Hippies, Sun Control Species, The First Stone, Braincell, some new Prometheus and Electrypnose tracks IMO created something new or, at least, a bit new

Close your eyes and float in to space.

100% trance: pads, a groovie bassline, hypnotic, repetitive and overall beautiful.
