Hmm not many serious answers.
Usually I just use two instances of operator and tweak it until it's right - but some EQ and saturation/distortion can do wonders hard to achieve purely with the synth.
On the kick it's a fast pitched sine wave, however I might explore other parameters to tweak to obtain a more interesting result. On the bass, I usually start off with a saw wave (Saw D), but then I explore other waves / user waves and synthesis types (addictive, subtractive, fm) to taste.
After, if I think something else is needed, I'll put an effect.
Also, when I want to do some major production tweaks (build-ups and breaks, for example), I render the kick and bass as audio and load it into a sampler -> so much you can do.
On the kick+bass buss, typically I put a compressor and play a lot around with filters (or the Ableton 9 8-band EQ to design custom filters).

Ultrabeat. Sometimes use EQs heavily to sculpt the sound, somtimes I just use a HPF only to cut the subs.

most of my kicks are from massive and usually layered, sometimes i use bazzism or just a simple pitched sine sample and tweak it after with kontakt.
Tune the key, simple eq for the unwanted freqs, comp usually simple things.
Bass:
Virus ti
Sylenth
Massive
Reaktor ensembles made by me
Trilogy
Simple eq and comp. Depends of the bass sometimes i use also multiband comp, disto, some extra eq for special taste. bounce to audio and done
