Hi, I´m thinking to buy a laptop, but, I don´t have money enough to get a Powerbook, so I thought to get an Ibook with 1Ghz processor, what do you think about this to use making live performances and like a brain of a studio as well???

if you use Logic7 in it's full drive and want to take advantage of its killah JUICE SUCKER synths, plug-ins and fx, I will say NO. I personaly want to use lots of Sound Designer, Skulptur, Ring Shifter, ES2, Sick Guitar Filter (I am not a guitar junky tho), and hundreds of fx and 11 synth with two vocs, sampler and state of the art drum machine (no, they don't pay me for this), you need at least a tower with 1Gig and 1gig ram too, or I will save a little bit more money for dual processor G5's (but again not for live eh ;P ), cuz laptop with 1 Gig doesn't actualy deliver 100 of it's processor performance (purposely designed not suck the battery in one hour and not to toast the computer). But other software I have no idea, I heard that Ableton Life is super stabil for live performance, never freez the computer and you could actualy run many tracks and fx at one time. Unless you want to freez the long linked bounched songs in one track and use other track(s) for fx in Logic . I knew i-Book will easily digest Reason but again its only 16 bt. I don't have comment about Cubase cause I am not experienced with it. So if you plan to use i-Book for Ableton LIVE for live, go for it, it's work. founder http://www.enkienterprise.com

I think kive is really good for live all you need to get is some good plugins i would suggest kmplete from native instruments it has nice sounds and very nice synth Absynth.
you need at least 1gig of speed and ram and an external harddrive just in case...good luck. |

No ibook. It's too weak. If you have to get a laptop, save up for a powerbook, then buy two gigs of ram from www.macramdirect.com |
