The last psykovsky bit reminds me of them novo art guys and them fansy cultural rich guys who buy their stuff.

It took DaVinci 3 years to paint last supper (thought it has been said that if he was alive today,he would be diagnozed with ADD),today some drunkard can poop on piece of canvas, call it vanguard masterpiece and sell it to some rich pumpass who is full of it.

All you need is a bunch of other artsy pumpasses to convince it is a work of art representing bla bla, meet them together, and they will do a find job convincing themselves it is indeed a fine piece of modern art.

To each his own,and some folks may really fall in love with those horrific sounds, but a very good chunk of it is self convincing work, trying to elevate your taste above them "ordinary folks",and at the same time,loop-convince your bodies with "elevated sense of music" that it is indeed a fine masterpiece.

We humans are funny like that.

Great responses so far. Thanks... keep it coming, but please keep it production related, I dun care if you happen to hate hippy jesus folks.

boom-boom!

Another one by me:

Like:
- Good use of apregiators (automated)
- Pads / vocal + trancegate
- Low saw riffs that go over bass and add groove
- Shakey not jungle like percussion
- Clever samples... dun mind if they are drug related, this is drug music neway, still loving a good L.S.D. sample
- I do love one shots, breaks and fills when used wisely
- Minimal sounds, textures and stuff that makes me wonder how it was done
- Stereo basslines
- Gliding, legato leads
- Lfo spacey sounds
- Certain degree of cheesyness that reminds me good ol'times

Dislike:

- Too complex goa melodies that just sound for too long
- "Helium" goa kicks
- Music that depend on chirpy glitchy s&h sounds for the whole track
- Tracks that intend a profund trance but instead they bore me to death because sounding the same for a long time also no fills, no breaks, no bridges.
- Progressive psytrance that is just 135bpm bassline + vengeance stabs with lots of reverb / delay

It is true that one has little or no time to listen to crap... it is a real endevour to find good psytrance these days.

cheers.

innovation

dislikes
almost all releases

It takes a lot to make good music in any genre. I'd just like to hear that effort put into psy more often. my biggest gripe about PSY, not goa.... is that it lacks melody and melodic content as well as harmony. A kick/bass and a bunch of crazy fx will not get me dancing. However a groovy kick and bass with lots of supporting melody and harmony will get me dancing.

Those of you looking for something interesting thats not psy but psy influenced check out Slackbaba - as the beat goes ohm great downtempo album with double timed beats, excellent rythmic work, as well as melodic, one of the best sound engineers i've heard.

Like:
Interesting intros..not to long not to short
Arrpeggios with though..cool jazz chords or classical chords that one would not normally hear
Straight up bass lines..not lots of changes
good percussion
delayed sounds flying everywhere
sick breaks(entropy,eskimo type)
good samples that you can hear clearly

Dislike
someone mentioned the slow progressive with lots of reverb
bad samples
evil sounding piano organs
intense tempo speedups           www.soundcloud.com/kabbalisticvillage

Good usage of hats (taking in/taking out)
Atmospheric pads
Nice Efxd melodies that take you to nice places
Basslines that are not the main thing in a track
gated voices if not overused
Certain degree of cheesyness as said before
One big high in an hour rather than 30secs buildups
Tracks that pass by you, and u realise "what a great track" when it finishes

Dislike

Anything above 148BPM
The feel that i'm in a war
Sidechained pads that go up and down with the bassline
16/32 bar up and down fx's
The feel that every Progressive Act sounds just like the other(said before) and i love progressive.

like: music that i can dance to.
music that i can trance to.
music with weird noises.
music.
music that ajja makes (forgive me for being a pathetic fanboy, but it's really fucking good)

don't like: sounds of people being killed.
Saw (1,2,3,4,5) samples
boring basslines
folks that continuously hate on new shit, look, some of us are trying. just give it time. you sucked at one point as well, i'm sure.

Such an ignorant comment, so your telling me if I sped your favourite track up to 149-150 you would no longer like it?
I don't understand peoples preoccupation with tempo, good music comes at many speeds and the human mind has the ability to comprehend them all.

Good morning
I'm sorry if i offended u , but from my experience that's the faster i go,and this is at a partie ,at home its even slower, anythting above that just doesn't do it for me.i'm not saying there aren't excepcions, but generally it's how i feel, and that was what was asked
Be well
