do you just leave it in your tent? or leave it in the car to bake in the hot sun? ask the promoter to hold on to it?
i'm not looking to steal laptops, i'm just wondering how everyone keeps those precious machines safe.
seems like it would be smarter to just burn all your tracks to CD and do a dj set, eh?

asking the promotor for a safe place to stash it. Or in your car.

at Boom festival 2008 there was this cool(ed) room with everybody's gear in it. If you'd sell what was in there, you wouldn't have to work for several years
at Fullmoon there wasn't any room like that, what I did was leave it in the car but in a way (under the seats, seats down, heaps of stuff on the seat) you couldn't steal it in a second even if you broke the window.
On the other hand: it are psytrance festivals... people tend to trust other people a lot and the environment is quite 'safe'. I once borrowed a woman's laptop for half an hour. I didn't know her, she trusted me and said it would be bad karma to steal it from her. I agreed.
In short: ask the organisers.

Most places have a safe place to put your stuff in, if there is none just stick it somewhere on stage. Put a big note on it "if you touch this, gms will eat your babies and play alien jesus on repeat".

I dont play anywhere, but occasionally I take my Notebook with me on Festivals.
I use a Kensington Lock and mostly store it in a place where it cant be grabbed fast.(in a camper)
