What do you do when you get stuck?

How could people be so rude sometimes...? Go to hear some DUB/CHILL for a while...
When I get bored I do not like just stop my track and start another one... If I stay away I usually will not come back anymore...
I usually stop producing and then go to check some new tune from you. I go to the New Tracks section and I hear to some new stuff. That inspires me. I think it's a matter of motivation... only people that are similar to me can motivate me.

Its the same if U're a designer, artist, musician.. If u got stuck what I do is making USEFUL things. If its an design work, just going to browse new fonts, textures etc. If its music and I'm stucked with some moment what I do is open new project, draw 2-3 notes, an starting to record sounds, everytime diferent filter.. so using this technique (I've learned it here on isra) in a week I have more than a giga of fresh, high quality, 24bit, my own samples that are so usefull later. Other thig I can do is listening to some old projects, not finished or not mastered so that i can enhance them. When u make something ssophisticated, from time to time one needs to go away for a moment, this technique has been used for ages by all kind of artists... Later I can hear very clearly what i dislike. And if my mind tells me... mmmm this sounds poor, or flat, i just Delete it.. not trying to rescue. freshness is very important.  and a good organized time as there are so many iedas one want achieve, but so little time to work on all of them!!

well i think the best thing to do is to relax, get out of the studio a day or two , go eat something very good(mexican food!!hehehe) listen to some good music , then go back to your studio and check your work , if you get unstuck good, if not, do that a again but now get drunk with your freinds in the weekend , come back next week and youll get unstuck forsure. if not, start a new track hehehe
ohh and trie to think of your track when your alone i dont know think that your track is going to be a killer one and what elemnts your going to add on it, for it to be a killer! |
