i must have asked this question hundreds of times in the last 4 years. never got a short straight answer for ordinary mortals.
the problem is very clear, i need to clean sound. i need to clean a speech or a nature scene. mostly it is because there is always the same surrouding sound or some surrounding wind. what do i do? is there anyone who can give me the answer in two words??? please??
what effect do i put on the audio sequence? is there something i could do per one click?
i work with adobe premiere for movies and if needed with adobe soundbooth. the effects are not so much but there are a few that might fit.
i am not a sound engineer and will never be and dont have the time to spend another year for learning this. it would be so much to know how to do this fast.

You could try to find the frequency spectrum in which the sound occurs and turn down those frequencies in an equalizer.
(EQ Effect in Audio Effects section in Adobe Premiere) |

just hire a soundman...it is a common thing to hire soundmans for those jobs of cleaning.
i did it. 200$ for a project.
you can also hire a boomman that will record from the start clean sound and the result will be even better.

1. good microphone
2. good recording (windstopper, distance, preamp...)
if you have this you can try some "waves" plug ins, but there will always be a quality loss if you try to cut things out, so make sure u have a good record.

Orgytime is right.
When the noise is in, it is not possible to get it out without leaving some kind of artifact of the denoising process.
Commonly used methods which attempt to denoise things like this are a) noise gates b) denoising plugins like the waves 'x' range.
Neither will give you 'clean' results though, no matter how skilled you are with them.
Sometimes, if you are lucky, and you are attempting to rip say speech from a movie or some such, you will find the speech is in the middle channel, and extra noises or all stereo - so getting rid of stereo channels and leaving pure mono can help ... but this is not always true.
You best bet is to rerecord if possible, using a proper mic, and proper techniques with the mic to allieviate and reduce these issues in the first place.
If this is not a possibility, then you will have to accept that you will have background noise, or alternatively artifacts in your recording.

Same answer as the rest. you could find the frequencies you want to get rid of with an analyzer. and pull those down with an equalizer. but you will get the problem that you also loose some frequencies of the voice. especially wind and such noises interfere too much with the frequencies of a vocal.
In short: Impossible to get clean voice. |

She is not a music producer but a journalist and is talking about cleaning up an interview recorded in the open nature.

A bit rude, no?
