nectarious i just wanted to say that in allot of your posts just like this one you reffer to a compressor as an instument to "even output level" wich is not true. this is why we have limiters! ( and balance in mixer's you know..) after the limiter the compressor was invented for another purpose ( stop riding on singers and instruments) and than it became also a kind of side effect purpose with the different more punchy and tight sound you can get from it. if you like using it for different reasons that really cool but when you explain the terminology in the sound world use it properly.

A limiter is nothing more than a compressor with an infinate ratio that kicks into effect at 0db - could change with various settings, but a compressor does the same thing only is more flexible.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

If I understood what you are saying correctly, if I have a lead that the volume increases when I increse the cut off, and I want the volume to remain constant, will a limiter do for the job? If I use compressor, the soft/hard knee and attack/release depends on how fast/often I am turning the knob?
