My Mother and granny call the music NOISE "Fria this is not music...this is noise". My grandfather, hardcore Old Fashioned Parsi, is the only one who has actually listened to all the cds we release 
My Husband's mother can't handle the music at all, but the Dad is a rocker...we've busted in on him when he's been alone in the house pumping Peace for The Wicked so loud that he didn't hear the door bell.
As for the parties and the culture, my mother's favourite line, " All these trance parties, with the hippies looking so spaced out.... I hope you'll are not smoking." I've had numerous conversations on how Sai Baba smoked (cause my mom is a huge follower), hence smoking is probably a good thing, but she doesn't buy it.
I think as long as our parents see that we are conscientious humans and we are happy and healthy, they'll come around.

I had a similar conversation with my mother who initially disapproved of the idea of smoking jadi booties but with a little knowledge sharing on matters less spoken of however increasingly emerging in the present times thanks to the internet ... there is good reason for one to stop and think again how were psychedelics / medicine used by our ancestors .... the medicine man of the tribe, the Shaman used psychedelics to heal the tribe, to astrally project himself, communicate with entities from other dimensions, travel into the future, project his spirit into the bodies of animals such as panthers, jaguars, eagles ... There is a strong connection there and the act of ingesting a psychedelic should be considered a ritual, taking of a holy sacrament to attain altered states of consciousness put to good use 
Time for the world to wake up !

my ancestors were big time dopers .... hukkah mixture with loads of weird psychedelic stuff was mixed and they would ( the males ) sit and think all day about evolution.........i can imagine .... with enuf to eat and no tv and i-net and no technology life must be so so boring .... after the great zamindari sytem and days of hukkah and madira at nights .... and many tawaifs.... i guess it resulted to the polished pussy sniffing acid dropping twisted mad eccentric psycho ....ME !!
no my point is ........... our forefathers were animals ....they womanized ...halucinated ( imagine the folk lore we hear of 4 headed monsters) ....... wrote kamasutras ( haha ) and look at us....... chasing daisies....... i personally am not doing too bad but the world makes me sick ........ religion divides us ...sex is a taboo ....money makes more people hungry .... and halucinating stuff are the real danger to society .... haha u must be jokin right???

My grand dad used to smoke up & my daddy still smokes up.
First time when my mom found stash on me, she almost wept but daddy handled well...... and i am still smoking up happily ever after.
but thats just not about the psy culture, ,y parents are not aware of the actual psychedelic culture & to be honest i never tried to explain to them, but they do not have any problems/reactions to psychedelic music.

i used to passive smoke with my dad when i was a kid, he used to take me along to the ashram where they used to smoke up chillums & then start 'sangat', i remember this soordas (blind) babaji used to play lovely violin & another babaji on harmonium & my dad used to play dholak/tabla & i used to enjoy the ambience along with the smoke from chillums.
But now, no i dont smoke up with my dad
