I'm a bit behind the times in writing some Psy but there's no better time to start than now, right?
When you guys are writing your Psy tunes, do you typically slow down your tracks to something like 100 BPM when recording your midi performances? Seems like Psy is a bit fast to be recording sequences at 140 BPM. Maybe I've just got a lot to learn!
It would be great if some of you can share your methods behind your song writing. Even better would be to describe how you wrote a track then post a link to the song. Helps put 2 and 2 together. Could be a cool thread as I'm sure I'm not the only newbie around the block.

if things are too fast for you, slow down and record
nothing wrong in that

and for fast acid lines: develop them in your head and then write down the notes in your favourite midi editor. |

sometimes i compose music on the midi keyboard, but mostly i use keyboard only to create the harmony and then type in the notes with the mouse ... when recording knobmovement, even 149 bpm is ok ... i have to rework it sometimes with the mouse though ... |

MarkH, a nice way of doing it is making a melody at your own bpm, regardless of the track bpm, then remember that melody or record it then quantize it to fit your track. Of course, making it in your head and writing it down is just as easy and works too.

Thanks for all the replies. It's nice to hear everyone's methods they use to write. It shows that we all have are own unique ways of doing things.
When I listen to Infected Mushroom (an easy example to use) I can tell some of the rapid 16th notes, or possible their own arpeggios they program, must be done either with a mouse at 140 BPM or the song slowed down to 80 BPM and everything played/quantized then sped up at playback.
I do appreciate all the feedback. I plan to experiment a bit this weekend and see what I can come up with.
Regards,
MarkH

hei friends this the thing.. its not about putting 2 and 2 togather but putting like 2000000 and 2000000 togather... so the thread is much more complicated, than...
ther eis no easy way to learn to write a dance track, and if its psy is even more difficult..u have to use the search here, READ a lot as here in this section U can LEARN PRACTICLY EVERYTHING u need for producing a decent sounding trak...
good luck
