Is it them desktop speakers with a sub, like them cheap Creative ones?

Just wondering as I would like to check my mixes on there as well and thinking about getting a set.

Peace out.

When I listen at Home I listen on my Hifi in the living room.
Got no Sub there, but two quite good speakers

Probably, yes.

I guess the reason is (1) the sub is close to the wall (probably touching) and (2) sub is on max power, because he wants to be cool?

there is no subwoofer volume knob.

i think the reason is that they just suck

a solution without the sub would be better for checking ur mixes.

just play your tunes evrywhere you can even on phones and earphones
it is no point to get new crappy speakers
better get bigger studio monitors or something

friend that work in one of the best parisian studio use a auratone for checking translation on small system.(it s passive if i m right and very old speaker but avantone make some active one that look intresting, thinking to get one in the futur, i m sure it s very usefull to check timings with kick bass and other stuff as well ,all this stuff differ from speakers to speakers cause of crossover and phase if i m right, the avantone are just one driver speaker, should be very tight, i find headphone can be usefull for this too )

me want one !

btw i like my shitty mbp speaker to check the mix, they are pure crap but can be usefull.

I do, in the car, MacbookPro's small speakers, other people's speakers, but more importantly when we play out I get a very good idea, after all I do aim to get the best mix possible for big PAs. Soundchecking for the Earthdance festival in Switzerland was good as walked around the big room listening from an array system. Just wondering about where people mostly listen to music at home.

I do have good monitors in my studio and recently did some DIY treatment as well.
Just need to find some pretty fabric to "dress up" the bass traps.

Peace out.

i think the sound differ so much from pa to pa it make it hard, anyone know more about this and how he get the best translation on big soundsytem? i already asked this to artists touring regulary and usualy the response is it depends the pa,some sound great and some sound like shit and you can t do much .
basslight mix with tight low end may be more safe for translation on different pa system imo what do you think?
and our hearing curve at high level ,have to be taken into consideration ,i hate these mix with no mids on big pa cause the mix is too smiley curved, that can hapen easy when you have no bass in your room or mix at low volume wihtout checking loud.

even a shitty sub may help for this, chris lord alge use a 300$ infinity sub with his ns10 and his considered a top mixer. when it s just there to check translation on big woofers no need to spend a lot imo but might be wrong.. but dh with your mackie i guess you have more than enought low end to check this

It does, especially because the rooms that party take places differ so much as well and on top of that, the deco changes the sound.
In September we played Earthdance in Switzerland, in an array system, wooden floors and lots of psychedelic banners on the walls. So less reflections and more "focused" and defined sound at the dancefloor.
November we played Germany, smaller P.A. less deco on the walls and a second floor in the club with a big hole for the people on the first floor, looking down on the dancefloor and that room sounded very different, quite reflective and you could hear the early reflections all over the place.
BUT! you do get to hear a lot of music until you go on stage (or listen to it from the stage monitors and your ear gets used to the sound unless the PA/monitoring is complete bollocks) and you can get a lot of information to tell a good mix from a bad one, even if the PA is facing the people. You do get a general idea of where you've mixed your leads, if the kick is too boomy, bassline phat enough...etc.

When I am DJing there is a noticeable difference between artist's tunes in bass amount/tightness. But they all stay within a certain "range" so that there is clear, defined bass.
After that some people push the envelope and get really phat basslines with the peak levels in the DJ mixer staying exactly the same as other tunes that did not have such a big bass patch going on.
Tightness is what I am going for as well, as you get that clear defined machine gun 16th sub that sounds amazing on the PA. I am trying to tune my kicks so that they "fire" the same amount of punch so I get tight bass from all 4 notes within a bar.

Peace out.
