u know i've noticed something about this forum...some people instead of really answering people's questions get into discussions about who has the most knowledge...will someone please answer this guy's question?
dude i don't know about reason & live but with cubase & fruity loops u could do a "live act":
tweaking your synths and distorting them while ur songs are playing, adding some sounds through ur hardware synth or ur midi keyboard using vst's etc etc...possibilities are endless!

i'll add some questions.
so basicaly, i'd set a channel for everything i want to happen thru out the set and then trigger it off the dequencer live?
how would i go from track to track?
and lets assume i want to have a friend play drums. would you run them thru your computer and play with them? or just amp them?

Talolard, I think I am agree with Psyjar, its all depend of what the artist prefer, ofcourse Ataxia want to see the better possibility of using hardware such drum, external, internal plug-ins, or stand alone soft instruments or even accoustic instruments such djembe, flute etc instead of what Pixan says like most of the esta-BLISS artist did ;P
If you want someone play drums or others, it would be great if we can take advantage of Live's Beat-Map Sink capability or even it's FX, but what will run the Reason application, not to mention stand alone sofs? (two computers or slaved?). But if the main mixer have decent FX, I will just amp them. And play what we could accept as "live". I wish there should be more people with the blue name here to help us ;P
I haven't use Reason and have no idea of slaving it to Live and to the interface, etc, so I could not give to much answer except just run the laptop to the mixer and also other istruments to the mixer too. That will be no joke. Go Ataxia, you'll make it bro!

You can do it both ways... so, you must choose the one that fits your needs.
If you have enough inputs on your sound card you can pass the drums thru your computer and process them the way you want in real time (this means a lot more cpu processing), you can allways route the signal back (after processing) thru different soundcard outputs to get it in individual hardware mixer channels (deppending on how good is your cpu and soundcard you'll probably get some latency problems).
The second choice is to put the drums directly to the mixer (no latency here )...
When a drummer plays with machines he has to be synchronized with them (well, most of the times). The best way I've reached, was to have a click track on the set, routed to different soundcard outputs (so I don't have it on the PA), feeding a pair of headphones that the drummer is wearing. He just have to play with the 'click tempo'.
All of this is possible 'cause I have the right gear to do it.
You just have to find a way of doing what you want accordingly to the equipment you have.

I think each person has their own way of doing lives. Also depending on the gear they have and how 'live' they want it to be!

heheh
thats the way it is
i like to see live acts with most hardware u can get. See the man working around rather than live dancing on stage hehe |

psyjar, i have the emu 1820, with 8 i/o's' and dsp effects. i'd imagine using 6 inputs and 1 output for the drums, processing each channel at will with dsp effects meanwhile running my sequencer and playing a synth and a mic on the other two inputs.
what do you think?
